“ The lazy sods have naps /siestas in the middle of the day while on shift don’t they, that probably helps.“ So that wasn’t accurate, just made up BS guesswork.

They will never moan as much as the average person from ‘Ull.

So the Spanish never have siestas anymore then?
I know plenty of people from hull and they don’t moan about restaurants being shut after 10 midweek and the attendances of other clubs. That seems to be your speciality.

Bars, cafes etc don’t shut. Trains and buses don’t stop running. There is a movement by the government to get them into a 9-5 routine like us. One minister said who wants to be eating at midnight. Hasn’t gone down to well. He would enjoy Hull.

Hull people’s motto should be apathy. The reason nothing changes and it gets left behind.

Notice you didn’t answer the siesta question because you know the answer. Not BS guesswork at all.

Anyway, I’ve got a meal booked at half 9 tonight so I’m off for a 3 hour nap so I’m not exhausted for it. Enjoy the rest of your day <cheers>

Not all Spanish have siestas. How would Brits get served with beer and chips all day? Or get buses or trains? Or go on boat trips. They then end up working later than we do. Wonder why people choose Spain over the wonder of Hull for a holiday?

Brady showing his punctuation is as crap as ever. Get Vern to give you a few lessons as he has plenty of time on his hands now (allegedly).

The difference in cultural attitudes between Southern and Northern Europeans regarding work and leisure goes back thousands of years. Climate is a big factor. The Romans and Greeks valued leisure highly and saw hard graft as beneath them. Back-breaking agricultural labour was for slaves and other servile classes. They were also highly-urbanised civilisations as well so the alienation between rural commoners and urban elite was greater.

On the other hand, the ancient Germanic, Celtic and Slavic peoples of Central, Northern, Western and Eastern Europe lived in colder climates. Hard graft was a way to keep warm and there was no point wasting time dossing about. These societies were also more rural and even kings, chiefs and nobles considered agriculture and pastoralism as virtuous. The majority of the populations were freeholding commoners and tenant farmers initially, rather than slaves and serfs. Slaves existed but nowhere near the scale as Rome and Greece.

    Essay over.
