I actually think Matazo might recover better than Millar or Belloumi. Hopefully all three come back without a significant loss of strength, pace or agility but as another poster said, some players neglect gym work/strength training or do the bare minimum mandated by the club and others do extra sessions and take it seriously. Millar and Belloumi both look very lightweight but their pace and technical ability make up for it. Matazo on the other hand is shorter than both but looks much stronger, both upper and lower body. Burnsy once said Matazo is built like a welterweight boxer and you can tell he doesn’t skip leg day. If Millar and Belloumi don’t come back with extra muscle, they’ve not done their rehab properly.

It’s not just the fact of having what appears to be an excess of bad luck in terms of knee injuries but coupled with the fact that it’s also happened to out better players.

We should still have enough quality to avoid relegation but for ****s sake.

That’s all of them but Barry’s seems to be meniscus or articular damage which isn’t great but nowhere near as bad as an ACL. He might be back this season but probably not. If we stay up and Villa agrees to loan him back again, he should be fit for pre-season though.

Millar and Belloumi will probably be available for selection at the end of July so may play in a pre-season game, if only for half an hour for fitness. I don’t think either will be risked or sharp enough to start games for the first couple of months of next season though. It will be late September at the earliest before either of them are starting games consistently.

Matazo probably won’t play a minute for us until December at the earliest and it might even be after Christmas before he’s playing again.

Are the club insured for these type of injuries. I mean in the terms of wages and not transfer fee.

This season does seem cursed, we just need to see this term out and hope we can accrue enough points and then start again next season.

I cannot believe we have another ACL injury. It’s just typical City. The injury curse continues. The treatment room is going to be busy.

Wishing Matazo a speedy and pain free recovery.

"I don't know when he's going to be available; for the moment, he's on the grass. It's good news for him, and it's for us that he's on the grass. He's touching the ball, and he can participate a little bit.'

That's fantastic news, he's actually touching a ball, probably not with his feet though. I just hope he doesn't overdo it, he's a big miss.

I hope you're correct with your estimates but worry you might be optimistic. I think Tyrone Mings did his ACL on the first day of last season and didn't return until about November - i.e 15 months. I can appreciate different recovery rates and different degrees of injury I suppose, but if that's replicated for our three we dont see Millar and Belloumi until the next calendar year and we don't see Matazo next season! Give me some reasons to believe ours will be quicker. Please! Anyone!

Younger players in their early 20s have better recovery rates than older players in their late 20s and 30s. That’s the only reason I can give to be optimistic of their return time.
