It is a basic matter of economics and one recognised in the early 1900s when Rosa Luxemburg was awarded a Nobel Prize. Letting capitalists pursue limited resources will only result in war as these resources become scarce. Leaving countries with limited resources and left to be exploited by richer nations only leafs to conflict. Better to stabilise those countries so that they are economically viable and able to support themselves than letting them fail and lead to wider conflict. I can appreciate the threat from Russia but the threat of invasion is nil as their army and its equipment are seriously wanting. They can cause damage to the West bur we can contain them better with economic sanctions. I would suggest that the idea of reparations for slavery will swiftly be dead un the water.
This is true, and something that even David Cameron recognised when he ringfenced overseas aid against his Government’s austerity program. Doubt we’ll be hearing that argument from the Daily Mail though, somehow.
The UK is not a failing nation. It is the 6th largest economy in the world. It is the most diverse and open-minded places I have ever been. I am quite tired of ‘patriots’ running down the country because.. quite frankly… it isn’t American enough for them. I don’t want to live in the American system of me first society. I don’t want US style free speech where you can say anything foul and untrue and claim it as a constitutional luxury. When Voltaire said “I may not agree with you but I will defend to the death your right to say it” (which he never actually said but that is another story) he did not mean he supported lies and calls to violence against the weak. I don’t want to live in a society where race is at the heart of everything. I don’t want to live in a society where white people live jn fear that their ‘birthright’ is being stolen by the immigrant masses. Anyone who thinks the UK is a failing nation - rather than one simply transitioning into the modern age - is just making themselves miserable and should go for a walk in one of our amazing parks, or go have a nice curry. If the world is struggling it is with wealth imbalance. Between nations. Between social groups. But most of all between us, the people, and the wealthy elite.
I find your posts irrelevant, poorly researched and designed to bait rather than engage. Have a nice day.
Someone I know has asked me if this is true, as it’s not been on the news anywhere. Can’t find any reputable sites reporting it, anyone on here heard anything about it? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasanga_massacre
I think it is. We very rarely get African news in the UK. There is what is called the proximity bias - and proximity means cultural more than distance. So we are more likely to get South African or Australian news even though they are further away.
You’re wrong. The currency is collapsing. The birth rate of the UK population is collapsing. Quality of life is collapsing. Expenses are going up, taxes are going up, all living costs are going up. Yet things are getting worse. NHS is awful, the streets are less safe, crime is going up. We have the highest spend on DEI staff per capita (over £557 mil PER YEAR) on woke roles. The state has grown to a ridiculous size and the public sector is harming the private sectors productivity. Ridiculous energy policies make us uncompetitive on the global stage. Therefore our manufacturing and infrastructure is essentially collapsing at unprecedented rates. We have a huge debt burden which means future generations will have it even worse than we have it. All of the above are indisputable facts and anyone saying “go for a walk and get a curry” is living in denial of those facts. No wonder most of your opinions are wrong, you are completely detached from reality. The reality is the UK has been run like a sport republic football club for a long time.
The currency is not collapsing. Look up what collapsing means. High birth rates only occur in poor countries. Are you scared about the rise of non-white people? We are definitely not as rich as we were. Brexit and Russia’s illegal war, on too of the lasting impact of the banking crisis have hit us hard. DEI just means diversity. Another dog whistle. And in my experience DEI simply means you end up with a more varied group of candidates. It doesn’t enforce a final choice. The country is not getting more dangerous. Crime is largely going down. Go have a pint, then a curry. The Britain I grew up in in the 80s was more violent, poorer and we couldn’t afford takeaways at all. Spoilt child.
Anti democratic forces have convinced electorates that the 4th estate is not actually there to reveal truth but obfuscate it. Trump wants to replace legitimate journalists with right wing podcasters…
Meanwhile, Musk is standing up in the middle of a US cabinet meeting and doing a TV interview, where he is almost incoherent in parts with his mumbling. The coherent bits he is waffling on about how his email to all government employees was actually a stroke of genius 'pulse check' and the rest of us are all just not smart enough to understand At the same time, the faces of all the cabinet in the background look like they are willing him to stop talking and are wondering what is going on What a comedy
Irrelevant maybe, yet here you are replying to one of my posts again. That ego won't let you leave it unanswered will it? Just like that playground boycott you all tried to put on Os. It didn't work because you lot couldn't hold your water. One of the gang always wanted to be the one who had the last word, delivering the coup de grace on poor Os and return a hero to his fellow loonies. Didn't quite work out like that though, too self absorbed to see him pulling the strings. This politics thread used to be a boring echo chamber of whinging lefties but all of a sudden it's become unexpectedly entertaining. Still full of whinging lefties but now with added anger. With St. Kier the Saviour lurching from one embarrassment to another at home, the Don is taking the brunt of it. The obsession is hard to fathom, it's as if some can't be happy unless they find something or someone to be angry about. It's one thing having a cause but uncontrolled anger is a weakness that can be exploited, especially if you've been rude to other posters. That last sentence should in no way be construed as a threat but just friendly advice just like you would get from Greater Manchester Police. Over to you for the last word.
