Not sure if there will be more support for EVs in USA but Trumps scrapped all the clean energy support for the time being for renewable energy and subsidies to EV as well as funds to build charging stations https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/17/red-states-solar-trump-funding-freeze https://www.reuters.com/business/au...-order-that-set-50-ev-target-2030-2025-01-21/
We don't buy any gas from Russia. Oil is a different matter, you're right. Just the other week there was an expose that reported how we are still 'ok' importing Russia oil, as long as it is refined in other countries. This means that the money technically goes to those secondary countries (such as China and India), but of course they are then using it to buy more unrefined oil from Russia, so the money ends up there at least in part, one way or another. It's a bit like how Chelsea manage to dodge FFP every year
Pretty sure the sales slump is because most of the sales are to lefty liberals who want an EV who are now totally dissociating with Musk because he's a nazi. No surprise that its gone totally pear shaped in Europe since Trump and Musk have basically alienated Ukraine and Europe and supported AFD and tried to free tommy
Well we buy gas from France/belgium/netherlands/Spain who buy Gas from Germany who buy Gas from Russia
Trump's businesses have tended to crash and burn ... he's just trying to bring that outcome to a bigger stage now ...
Just fielded the same point from brb. It is disingenuous to think that anything more than a fraction of humanity make any significant decisions based on their political morals. This just isn't how the world or people work. Like the Free Free Palestine mob designing graphics for anti-Israel posts on hardware that was built by Israeli hi-tech firms. Either they don't know, or if they know they don't care enough to bin their Apple laptop. Our capacity for cognitive dissonance and self-contradiction is remarkable. The wealthiest and most powerful people recognise, understand and exploit this. Choice 1: Tesla sales are down because potential buyers would love to own one but Elon's been acting like a nazi recently so they'll boycott the company. Choice 2: Tesla sales are down because China has now caught them up on tech and affordability and is miles ahead in productivity and distribution, so Tesla need to pivot their European operation into a more competitive business model. I know which option I'd put my tenner on Bobby, sorry.
Chinas EV market has been on point for years. Might be because you haven't been aware of it. Likewise, it's been so strong europe have put massive tariffs on them Guess what, Tesla sales have been down in europe since January by 50% even though EVs have grown by a 1/3? Wonder what happened in January? A very active Elon Musk and his DOGE apartment have been upsetting loads of people. Maybe it's the additional tech and the extra tariffs people have suddenly overcome https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgd9v3r69qo
I was actually very surprised because when i went to beijing last october, there were so many different electric vehicle companies showcasing loads of different cars. must have been like 5 or 6 different brands i'd never heard of with quite a few models at different prices.
There's lots of things CK aint aware of, like killing innocent women and children. Top of the ****ing league I go
You can't look at the Chinese EV market in a discussion about Tesla as if the two aren't connected. Tesla has factories in China and up until 2023 had the single largest piece of that market in China itself. What's changed very recently is that Chinese firms like BYD and SAIC have overtaken Tesla domestically and have consequently started to ramp up competition in exports too. Notably, BYD has just started constructing a giga-factory of its own in Hungary. So yes, Tesla are running scared.
Nah that doesn't count. Has to be subtle and woven into a proper post. Not a blatant catfish like that. Points deducted for trying to rig the system. You drop below Saf.
We're not talking about tesla sales in china (which i believe is still going strong). The U.S. hasn't really been anymore hostile to China than it has under Biden. We are talking about sales in Europe, whom musk and trump have upset, dropping 50%. The BYD factory in Hungary has no bearing on sales at the moment as it's not producing any BYD cars (scheduled to open in 2026) so its not like the costs has come down on them. BYD has also been selling in europe and the UK since 2023. Yes, Chinese EVs are getting better and better and becoming more well known but they have been selling in europe for a few years now but again, it's funny this suddenly has a bearing since trump and musks antics since then. Kind of like how fossie declaring rvn as the saviour and results are no way down to him as they were going down evidently anyway
International boycotting of South African products during the apartheid era put considerable pressure on the country’s economy, and hastened the end of the racist regime. Which is why I don’t buy Israeli dates or oranges, for what that’s worth. I’ll still buy bagels from Brick Lane when I’m down there though. I’m not an anti semite.
There are those that will have you believe that if you’re against the Israeli govt, then that makes you an anti semite. Which is of course a discourse designed to try and shut down criticism of their regime
