My take on the Danns signing, as the timeline for return is all rumours it's a waste of time arguing over it until we know for certain when or if he will play for us. If he does and he helps fire us through the playoffs then it was a worthwhile signing, if he doesn't feature then it was a signing that didn't pay off...and we will have loads more of those over the coming transfer windows. As for the blame? The club would only go off the medical findings and make a judgement call.
A scathing attack on the club is fine if people actually have a grasp on all of the facts ... ... basing it on guesswork from the Roker Report, etc, who regularly get things wrong, isn't exactly factual. People carry on like the club have cloned their bank card and emptied their account. When all is said and done, what the club do with their money is none of our business.
This is the thing, because the news is negative everyone has jumped on the roker report is gospel narrative. RLB’s press conference is what we should be looking at.
Former Sunderland defender Danny Collins thinks Regis Le Bris has a decision to make about under-fire keeper Anthony Patterson. Collins - who won the Championship with the Black Cats in 2005 and 2007 - told BBC Radio Newcastle that back-up Simon Moore might start against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday (20:00 GMT) should Le Bris opt to take Patterson "out of the firing line". "The spotlight's on him, coming off the back of the goals Leeds scored, balls coming into the six-yard box. Teams are going to have a look at that now, I'm sure Hull looked at it," he said. "It's a flat ball that's whipped near-post. He tries to collect it and gather it in, he gets a glove on it, it goes through his hands and drops into the back of the net. It looks horrible, it is horrible, and it's cost Sunderland points." Collins added: "I feel for Patto, he's come in for a little bit of flak in recent weeks, hopefully he can bounce back from it. "His position is possibly under threat - I listen to what the fans are saying. Simon Moore came in earlier in the season and did quite well. He's an experienced goalkeeper. "(Le Bris) may well think I'll just take him out of the firing line. He is still a young keeper and he might feel 'I'll just give him a little break and bring (Moore) in'." Link in comments
One signing that looks to be a great bit of business is Triantis who is having an impressive spell in the Scottish Premier league. Pity we will not be able to use him until next season.
We just need to keep moving forward and focus now on the business end of the season. It's been a long hard road for our kids so far but they have done remarkably well in my opinion. Would have snapped anyone's hand off to be in this position before the start of the season. We are going to be knocking on the door to get a chance to get back in the Premier League this season.....totally amazing and what a great club we have....so proud of the lads.
Guaranteed play-offs before the end of February, two games for a Wembley appearance and one more for promotion. Brilliant! It's easy to say ‘If only we’d signed Cannon/Brereton-Diaz/Kieffer Moore then we’d have been guaranteed top two’
