Salah would walk into any team, anywhere and get any wage he wanted. He doesn't want to leave Liverpool and we should be doing everything we can to keep him. We've had the conversation before about his high earnings and how it 'would disrupt the dressing room' but it obviously hasn't. Breaking wage structure comes second in my mind to keeping hold of this unicorn of a player because that's how difficult it would be to replace him.
Our wages still not the highest in the Premier league. I think we are the third or fourth highest. We have some room to manoeuvre
I agree in the main - obviously if he does want to stay then he has to be realistic about what LFC can and cannot do too, but looks like we've low balled him versus his current deal which is absurd if true
If there was a real danger of upsetting the apple cart then greater consideration should be given when wage demands are being made but we've seen no uprising or clamouring by other players to what Salah is on. We are a giant of a club and you can't keep the status without acting as such in doing everything you can to keep hold of your very best players.
Our wages are Salah 350k Vvd 220k Trent 180k It just do happens all top 3 earners are due their 5 year review. Robertson is on 160k if we were debating I'd be first to say that's too much and he needs to go if he won't take less. Alisson is on 150k. Out in 2027. I'd renew if he would. Gravenberch is 150k Rumours are we are wasting 100 to 150k on chiesa. Macallister is on 150k Szoboszlai is on 120k Gakpo is on 120k Jota is on 140k Konate is on 70k Diaz is on 60k You could look at it like this; our best team walks on to the pitch and we pay 1.8 million in that week to them. Are those players over paid? Thsts a great debate. Are they overpaid compared to others? Probably not a good way to look at it. Are they worth it? 61k people pay for those players to be there (gates would cover thr players). Everything else coming in pays for other stuff. We will very soon see the Liverpool 2023/24 accounts and know where we are at. They are only europa.
Well your gap is to 22 points which is a smidge of a gap alright but if you've European ambitions still you've a problem. I think you'll finish ahead of city as I can't see them getting 30 more points to catch you after their 60 point deduction
I think that debate starts and ends with - are their performances commensurate with their pay. Without going one by one I'd say the answer is a resounding yes. And yes with a cherry on top for the top 3 highest earners.
if true are the key words here. What if we have tried to take any risk of his age catching up with him away and given him an option of a lower salary but a much higher performance related pay, meaning that if he has a similar year, he can earn much more than now? We are not idiots (see Slot) - and we do not know all of the facts. I’m prepared to wait and see until I cast judgement
I am by nature a pessimist and it wouldn’t surprise me if we really struggle next year . Time will tell .
what if all three demanded double the money they were on now and 4 year contracts? I know that’s unlikely but I don’t even think that we know one side of the coin, let alone two……so judging the club (or individuals) on the little that we do know is completely pointless imo. I do accept, however, that waiting to base our opinions on facts is quite boring. #fsgout
