    ... what a day., 24th February 1979.

    There's not many players have a match named after them so it's great that a local lad should have that honour.

    There was trouble all day at Central Station, on the way to SJP and on the way back.

    The only ticket I could get was in the Mag section which I had to collect from a Mag pub in North Shields.

    I kept completely quiet until Rowell smashed his first goal in ...

    ... after that I was abused and threatened for the entire match.

    Incredibly it was the only time I've never seen any violence at a derby game and didn't hear about all the trouble until I watched Look North.

    Apparently Gary Rowell said to Kevin Arnott after the 4th goal "Shall we try for a fifth, or just take the piss?" Arnott replied "Let's just take the piss" :emoticon-0102-bigsm
