I said to the bloke next to me that he was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. Totally bossed our midfield. If Jobe goes in the summer, he'd be one I would want to be under consideration. Disappointing day. The performance was flat and you have to wonder if the lack of rotation of the squad earlier in the season is beginning to take its toll. Time will tell. One thing's for sure, if it is fatigue, then we can't afford to flog them further. We need them firing for the play offs. Time for Browne, Mundle, Mayenda, Aleksic, Poveda, Seelt and Watson to be given the chance to play their part. Danns as well, if we ever get him. Bizarrely, I was told by someone that he'd heard that the only reason they announced the 'sit down' over the tannoy, is to get the crowd going again. It has been very quiet at times over the last 5 games. Luton aside, with what has been served up in that time, it's only natural that the crowd will get edgy. Watford, Plymouth and Hull have been disappointing and even Portsmouth with 10 men wasn't a walk in the park. We have a great group of players who will run through brick walls for the club, but you can't flog a dead horse and some of them look dead on their feet. Time to give others a chance while giving some of the lads who have done brilliantly to get us where we are, a well earned break.
Good points well made mate, but as a former winger myself, if you're isolated it's best to try and hit the space on the outside rather than try to dribble into traffic.
Just takes a couple of bad performances and things get back to their miserable worst. This board could give a pharmacist incurable erectile dysfunction after a couple of losses.
I agree mate especially about the physical aspect of playing, I just feel there may be a bit of mental fatigue creeping in especially with the younger players. However these same players have constantly surprised me this season and as you know younger players can put disappointments behind them quickly and find themselves reinvigorated just as quick. I hope RLB and the coaching staff have some fun and games planned this week and make training a bit more light hearted to try and take some pressure off.
His family are just that a normal family! No airs or graces just parents trying to do their best for a talented son. No more and no less than any of us would do.
Absolutely. For those who are doubting that Rigg was completely shot and fatigued, when he was subbed in this game, it was the earliest he has ever been subbed this season. This is despite injuries to ELF etc. Glad they noticed but he shouldn't have started and needs a couple of weeks of rest and recovery.
https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...s-view-promotion-battle-sunderland-loss-hull/ LUKE O’NIEN has told his Sunderland team-mates not to become fixated on the gap currently separating them from the top two – and insisted there is still plenty to play for in the remainder of the regular Championship season.… “There's a hell of a lot of work to do,” he said. “When you win a game, if you go into first or second, it's irrelevant. It's where you are on the 46th game that's the most important. “So, there's a lot of minutes to be played, a lot of points to get picked up and our focus isn't just to win a game, look at the table and get all emotional. It's win, lose, reflect, make sure the team moves forward and go towards the next game.” “There were a few grumblings,” he said. “I don't like losing football games, and I think it’s just human nature to not win and to grumble. “You always want to win, and you always want to demand from each other. You want to be better. As long as you do it in a healthy and positive way, where we're all pulling in the right direction, that's all you can do.”
Booing is pathetic, no matter how poor we have been I could never stoop so low. Idiots is the only word to describe people who boo, them young lads walking of the pitch to be met by that after running their lungs off for 90 mins is a c***s trick. They need encouragement not criticism. I voiced my concerns on here on Saturday but not for one minute do I think they are not trying, when young Rigg came off he needed a strong arm around his shoulders and words of encouragement, the booing will affect these kids, who wants to play for dickheads who Boo you.
He got a whack from Matazo in the first 20 seconds - he was clearly hurt but carried on It was a clear tactic to close him down as soon as possible.
Personally think him falling to the turf and putting his head into it after failing to control another ball was the reason that RLB said that was him done. He looked completely done in.
Rigg played as well as the rest yesterday imo certainly not much in it across the middle, Hume was MoM for me, and Mundle added some drive as did Mayenda we need them to start and support Isidor from the off against teams at home .
Probably find out tomorrow how bad they are. I believe they are both seeing someone this morning to determine how significant each injury is.
Not that bad really. Theoretically should be back during the international break. Could be a lot worse ultimately.
When it's hammys a month is normally good news!!! That's said, won't know until the specialists get a look at the scans etc. I would guess that Ballards is worse though. That's just observation from the stands.
I'm clinging on to some hope in the fact the Le Fee didn't go off/get treatment etc and it was just a precaution to take him off. Although, knowing our luck him staying on aggravated the injury and he's out for 3 months as a result
He is definitely injured and had a scan. I haven't heard how bad it is yet though. Not sure anyone will have, as they are due to see someone today.
