After Charlton was alright mind. I was only a pup and a bunch of Charlton fans took us on a wild mystery tour of some less than visible London night spots. Superb evening, and also gifted us the 100 point season. I’ve had a place in my football heart for Charlton ever since cos of them 3 lads. Hope they get back on the up.
I’d be confident if we had them in a one of game. I’d be far more nervy for either Sheffield team or Coventry
I would be nervy if it was Coventry as with recent history showed with hull they have a voodoo spell on us, I'd be quite positive against Sheffield as I think we more than matched them both games this season and we looked the better team. Who knows what a one off game brings up though
Been play offs realistically for a few weeks, Burnley and Sheff Utd are relentless whilst we are struggling to get wins on the board consistently
Yeah it has. That's been the most likely outcome. This was even before Hull. I am actually looking back at 6th/7th more than 2nd TBH. When you have 1 home win out of Plymouth, Watford, Luton, Hull you can send your automatic chances to the bin. We have had a good season but unfortunately it's just a bit short from the top 2/3. Importantly, for me anyway, is finding our consistency and getting minutes into players who are returning from injury. We really need to have ELF back in good time for the play offs.
Thankfully the teams below us are just as inconsistent as us, so I think we need about 12 points from 12 games to get into the play offs but we need to desperately build momentum.
Spot on marra, we need to be going into the playoffs with a regenerated squad but crucially with form, squad rotation is going to be essential in certain areas
And match sharp so he has to use the options for the run in. Aleksic and Ab in particular need game time.
Whoever of Burnley and Sheff U miss out on the autos are going to be absolutely gutted and could easily be on a massive downer going into the play-offs. Perversely, we were never realistically automatic contenders - at least according to everyone outside of Sunderland - so we could, and should, use the last dozen or so games to re-group and play ourselves back into form in preparation for the play-offs. A fit and in-form SAFC are a match for anyone in p/o contention. That's my glass half full head head on.
My concern is Coventry hoping they’ve peaked to soon they’re absolutely flying and a side we always struggle against, be murder losing to them at Wembley
We've had dozens of so-called bogey teams, over the years, one of which we beat six times in a row ... ... the latest was Boro and we've just done the double over them. We'd often struggled to beat Wycombe but barely gave them a chance when we beat them at Wembley. Coventry are just another team to me, although their supporters aren't a pleasant bunch.
hopefully we can beat them in few weeks time to get the bogey team tag off our back just incase we do get them in play offs
Beating Utd and Burnley could put us in a tricky position if Utd lose to Leeds ... ... Sunderland wins, at Sheff Wed and Coventry, could start to make us almost think about top two again Sheff Utd play Sheff Wed soon as well, just saying.
