Fraid should have played O'shea at RB and Woolf in middle.

You got your wish, Godfrey off for Woolf, O'Shea moves out wide.

That one’s on McKenna today with an assist from the officials. Lambs to the slaughter with that starting XI. A win at Old Trafford is essential to keep our chances alive.

How different it might have been if we had taken our chances early on.

We played well and deserved something.
I love the spirit of this club.

Played well always going to be hard, I find some fans take on things amazing did they really think it would be easy this season. I honestly believe some fans thrive on us not winning so they can get their little moan and slag other people off to take their mind off of their own failures.

I don't think anyone thought it would be easy but I don't think we were all resigned to relegation before the season started either.

Being realistic doesn’t mean resigned to relegation.
Losing doesn’t mean someone got something wrong.

4-1 doesn’t tell the story but when you’re on top, you have to get a goal and we didn’t do so in the 1st 10 minutes. After that, it became more more even but Son tore Godfrey apart down their left and created 2 goals. 1 back before 1/2 time. 1st goal in 2nd half was always going to be crucial and unfortunately, they got it. Thought are midfield duo played well today - shame Phillips hasn’t played like that all season. Our right hand side was really poor - already mentioned Godfrey but also thought Philogene was terrible today and yet, he managed to stay on for the whole game. Do think that’s it now as we need to make up 6 points with goal difference being what it is. Wolves also playing well at the minute. Have loved the journey over the last couple of years and I am not turning against Kmc or the players (some fans are and there were boos today - not all aimed towards the ref who admittedly was poor)

That’s true but starting Godfrey against Son was at best naive and it’s one of the mistakes that swung the result in Spurs’ favour today. If we were miles away it’d probably be less disappointing, but it’s the odd fatal mistake here and there that’s cost us more weeks than not. There have been very few games this season where we didn’t look capable of getting something from the game, but here we are with only three wins from 26 games.

Type of afternoon that makes you think survival is not in the script. It can still be done, but nothing to suggest we'll suddenly find a vein of wins.

4-1 really flattered Spurs,as Yorkie said we really aren't that far off,it's just fine margins that are the difference between a relegation battle (which I fear we're losing now) and the comfort of 12th to 15th position.

This sums up our season really. Don't take our chances (not that they were huge misses) but then punished for our weaknesses.

I thought overall today was a very decent performance. I thought the summer signings started to show some fluency that I hadn't seen before. Unfortunately it was 2 of the January signings which struggled today.

Keeper thought on the whole pretty solid, not a lot he could do about the goals. Godfrey was caught out far too many times but to be fair it was up against Son who has the ability to do that to you. I also thought he wasn't helped by those around him. Philogene generally pretty poor defensively and whilst I think Phillips had one of his best games in town shirt I feel a bit like I've said with Greaves he presses and steps in too often and misses too many times and it leaves gaps and causes others to be out of position. He also for me doesn't try to dictate play as much as Morsy which for a player with his pedigree he should.

I thought O'Shea and Greaves both had decent games but just picking up on one thing how the hell did Greaves get beaten in the air by Scarlett for the 4th goal? Again at this point I also have not seen Greaves perform above the level of Burgess.

I thought Clarke did well for the goal but again showed himself to be too weak on the ball. Hutchinson did some nice things particularly when he went wide right but for me his decision making is not good enough in the 10 position.

I thought Philogene should glimpses of why we've brought him but on the whole he was poor defensively and fairly clueless going forwards although again I don't feel he was particularly well supported out that side, he was often being doubled up on and no overlaps from RB or support from others forwards/midfielders.

Delap first half was outstanding but like most games this season then tends to look laboured and ineffectual second half. Some aspects of his game are outstanding but I still feel he has lots to improve on. His runs off the ball for example, I noticed on a few occasions we got forwards today particularly in wide positions rather than running into the box, providing an option for a cross and creating space for those behind him he would drop deep meaning no one was in the box and he was occupying space that our other forwards were in. We need him to be unselfish sometimes and make runs knowing he's not going to get the ball but will create openings or options for others.

I feel like I've moaned a lot but it was actually a decent performance on what was a hugely disappointing afternoon

I could be wrong here, but from the replay it looked as though Scarlett jerked his head back and hit Greaves in the forehead. Dunno if the contact/action was a foul, but after the goal Greaves seemed to be on the sideline complaining to the line judge that he thought it was a foul.

My knowledge of the game is limited, and it was almost 1 a.m. here when it was on, but that's what it looked like to me.

    Gaffer's take.

Another brave performance and a game of fine margins, Greaves head clash, the Prem ref and first 10 mins chances we could have taken as Spurs were all over the place.

As Hampy says, we have competed well in most games, but here we are losing at PR again. Just 3 wins.

But we witnessed once again the amazing team spirit and we saw several good individual performances, especially Phillips.
Perhaps KM playing Godfrey against Son was an error and we looked more solid with Woolfy.
I do prefer Townsend at LB

Philo, J Clarke & Hutch were too lightweight as a 3 some, and as others have said, yet another change of formation.

There is a case for giving our previous heroes, Hirst, Chaplin, Broadhead, Taylor and Burgess more game time.

Enjoyed Delap 1st half, bit wayward 2nd and seemed to flounce off wen subbed. When we go down, he will be off.

In the likely event we go down, we will have a stronger squad plus loads of money with which to strengthen further.

We have all enjoyed the ride, and I guess we were promoted too soon! I dont like the booing.

Kieran will stay, and he has learnt a lot.

    Pinching myself again wen saying
    'Next up Man Utd!'

What I have enjoyed this season and yesterday.
Like most matches we gave a good account of ourselves and the scoreline didnt tell the story.
But for small margins, we could have won more games, if we were more clinical at crucial points in the game.

The players love playing for our Club and we've almost been good enough. The difference is the Prem teams are more physical and ruthless. With 2-5 year to bed in pricey Prem ready players.

Our team spirit, growing understanding plus bursts of energy, backed by the best fans has allowed us to compete as well as we have.
We have scored some great goals!

Several What ifs of course . If we'd have signed Palmer in the beginning, if refs and officials had treated us a Prem team, we would have enjoyed it all even more.

Yes, we should have beaten the Saints, but at end of the day this small band of Ipswich forum members know too well the extraordinary journey we have been on.

Our away fans are arguably the best in the Prem.
