Stating the obvious, but we can’t play 2 intense front footed games in 1 week. If you go back to New Years Day against Sheffield United massive performance followed by a flat performance against pompey. Same for Burnley/ Plymouth and Boro/ Watford. Now Leeds/Hull. Think Regis and some of the younger lads are now finding out what a slog the championship is. We now need to rest a few on Friday and prepare for a big push and to find some good form from Cardiff onwards.
We will have to make at least 2 enforced changes for Ballard & Le Fée. Rigg and Roberts could also do with a spell on the bench.
Me too and there is , we have the players, but do we have the nous to use them. The tried and tested Plan A is clearly not good enough and running out of steam at the wrong time..
That all sounds like basic common sense to me but much too simple an answer for some. You can see the players are doing their best, sometimes it's just not enough. It's a continual evolution not a revolution.
You guys have just lost once at home this season (yesterday) Honestly what I would give to have that record. We have only won 2 at home all season plus 6 draws, now that is something to moan about. We would be comfortable in the top 6 with your home record.
The question is how many errors can a goalkeeper make before you have to drop them, for the betterment of themselves and the team.
Normally when we make too many changes we have been poor but it is deffo needed. Trouble being supposing we play superb against Wednesday and beat them would he keep the same players together for the Cardiff game or would he revert back to his favoured players?
Sheff Wed are poor overall but decent at home. I'd go: Moore Hume Mepham Onien Cirkin Jobe Neil Mayenda Browne Mundle Isidor Subs: Patterson, Seelt, Hjelde, Samed, Rigg, Roberts, Poveda, Abdullahi, Le Fee/Jones
Its about the 3rd time ive read you siggest this! Why the **** would resting players for 12 matches prepare them for playoffs? Not heard about match sharpness?
Was Seelt injured again yesterday? Never noticed his name on the bench or had he played for the U21s?
I think he needs some coaching on the mental side of the job. I may be wrong , but to me he just looks worried and seems to be sepearte from the defense. I don't see him shouting at or directing the defenders like other keepers do
A lot of work still to be done to square away the playoffs hopefully we dusted yesterday off and return to points accumulation asap end of the day the playoffs is a lottery and is about performance on the day. the leeds game for the most part for me showed we can G up for the big games.
I will say that Patto’s kicking as got steadily worse over the season, and I did like the look of Moore when he played during Patto’s absence. I think we do need to freshen it up, but Patterson is no where near playing to Lee Camp standards yet.
Fair enough and you played well and deserved your win yesterday, but some of us have seen so many collapses for one reason or another to just ignore it. We have a great young squad as demonstrated against Sheffield, Burnley and Leeds ( albeit for 60 minutes) but questions remain over game management and team selection. We have had a great season so far but the signs are that the wheels are beginning to come off, and that some new thinking is required to gear up for the play-off lottery, which to be fair is what most supporters could only dream about at the start of the season.
