I think you’re being naive personally.

Every single decision they’ve made has been awful. This guy coming in hasn’t exactly pulled up trees anywhere. None of those clubs are particularly impressive tbh.

    Another SR false dawn imo

Sadly my elder sister Dinah (88 years old) passed away on Friday evening (a Saints fan of course), but I and 3 other family members, went to the game hoping to be cheered up, it couldn't have been worse, but that was no surprise. We can only hope that things get better in due course, life must go on.

I agree that I am a random and irrelevant poster. Nothing I say or do affects how Saints are run. Was feeling fed up with how Saints have become a joke team, not even worth other fans winding me up. Better to say nothing instead of pathetic drivel.

    I might well be, Os.

Either of us could be right or wrong on this. But I'd rather be chilled about it and hope for the best. The only way we are going to know is by waiting to see, so I just don't see the point of stressing myself out by expecting the worst.

I didnt know much about him so had a dig. He was great at Leipzig. He was head of scouting during the seasons they got promoted from Bundesliga 2 to qualifying for the championship league.

Funnily enough Hasenhuttl was the manager when he was there, probably suggests we will be looking to return to that style of play (Rohl).

With him as head of scouting they signed:
    Werner
    Naby Keita
    Upemencano
    Konate
    Cunha
    Nordi Mukiele
    Smith-Rowe (loan)
Plus loads of others that now play for europa/champions league sides.

Most of those were from smaller sides and went on to become top talents at massive European clubs.

Then whilst at Genoa he was promoted from sporting manager of the club to Sporting Director of the whole 777 group of clubs. So the ownership clearly thought he was doing a good job.

Plus, to my knowledge, he will be the only senior board member to have any experience working in a multi club model - which is insane that it has taken this long to hire someone like that.

The fact Newcastle wanted him is also positive - they seem to have been pretty spot on with their hires.

This is my feeling too. He's someone who has never been sacked from his role either, he's only ever stepped up because he's been doing a good job. So I'd rather sit on the side of hope than despair!

And you’re definitely right to hope. Trouble is SR have such an awful track record & are so slow to react, there’s a lot of despondency. Not convinced but wtf can I do? At this moment they will lose me as a STH. Shame. Big shame. Had one for most of last 50 yrs & really only dropped out a couple of season when kids were really young.

Thank you for all of the messages, it sums up what is good about this site compared to others, Saints 'till I die is a fact not just a chant.

    Sorry for your loss mate

Hammers home that there are far more important things in life than how poorly your football club are doing.

Football can be a welcome distraction to everything else that is going on, this season however has been an unwelcome distraction.
Iam not one to desert sinking ship, but glad I missed out on this one yesterday

Funnily enough, I'd be more tempted by a season ticket for next season than any other - there's the possibility of wins, a promotion and a fresh new dawn!
