That's fair IMO. This is where Rigg must be better. He is offering little to nothing and other players are suffering due to it. Wilson being to isolated and no link to the midfield, Roberts, no one close enough to him to do the little triangles and get playing in and around the box.

I'm just putting this one down to a bad day at the office... I think this result ( at home) has been coming for a few weeks now. Discounting Luton who are worst team I have seen this season...every other team has caused us major issues.
I do think fatigue is a factor, but as has been said, I do wonder what effect of losing Dodds has contributed to this.
We need to get some form going into the playoffs.

I think that’s blindingly obvious to everyone …

… repeating it over and over, on different threads, is just tub thumping.

The answer can’t always be to just keep signing more players.

Everyone is capable of seeing what’s happening on the pitch.

This is exactly it with regards to O’Nien, i feel I’m level headed enough to understand why he’s trusted by everyone’s that had the hot seat job even before RLB came in, i can see what he does well and also what he doesn’t do as well.

I’m also a realist and have a belief that effort over quality only can take you so far and for me I think we’ve reached that crossroad, I fully expect some pelters for this and I’m by no means saying that we should sell him because he’s definitely solid enough cover but we seriously need to be looking at an upgrade ability wise regardless of what league we are in next year.

Just look at the top three and their centre back pair, at least five of the six of them get in here ahead of Luke for me which are Egan-Riley, Esteve, Rodon, Ampadu Ahmedhodvic and the one I’m unsure of is Jack Robinson.

We’re not the best team in the league and never were mate, I think we all know that …

… however we are capable of much better than yesterday and I don’t think radical changes are needed.

Oh 100%. If Ballard could keep fit then Mepo and Ballard are the two that should be playing. 09 passing range is very good. His left foot switches are class. But as a proper centre back, he lacks key attributes.

In terms of next year, if we are too progress 09, Patterson, Roberts should not be starting games for us. Rigg will be a year old so should be better but at the moment, he needs some time out of the team.

As a realist you’ll know we can’t just sign more and more quality oven-ready players …

… how do we sign better players than the top three?

Could easily be that Enzo or Aleksic can do what Diallo did with Paddy.

We haven’t had the option to try it yet.

Supporters are the same at every club, over the moon when your team wins, pi$$ed off when they lose.
At the start of the season I didn't see us challenging for top two, hell the best I was looking at was upper mid table and challenge for the last play off spot.
This season has been a revelation, in parts, and we've played some good football. We've had to try and cope with injuries to important players and in the main we have but the injuries have left us a little short. At the moment it seems to me that the players are a little flat and lacking that confidence to really rip into teams. That could easily be solved by going on a winning run as we all know nothing boosts confidence like a few wins,
As has been said previously we did miss chances yesterday and as for that penalty decision I've no idea what the referee didn't see, fine lines and all that.
I still feel that these lads will string a run of results together and that we still have a decent chance of going up.
Life's too short to be miserable for too long and already I'm looking forward to the next game and the chance to get back to winning ways.

Meanwhile I've got half a pig to put into the oven, prepare the Sunday dinner and spend time with family, with apologies to Bill Shankley, there's more to life than football. Have a good day everyone.

Bit bored of the team selection, Rigg simply isn't up to it at the minute, we could really do with someone to come in for Cirkin. Roberts is struggling massively and even on good form is rarely gonna score.

But despite starting with Mundle, Aleksic and Mayenda, most of all we need a kick up the arse. If this team isn't good enough, I still can't see it, I am an optimistic person and I see the ability of the individuals.

BTW Mayenda didn't miss a sitter yesterday

Roberts was okay for me yesterday. Certainly not the main target for ire. He was constantly faced with three or four defenders and even then managed to create some moments. I know there’s valid criticisms of his general output but this wasn’t the Watford game. Even in a generally bad team performance he was half decent imo.

Bivol was 9/2 in play at about the 5th round mark, I opted for the draw at 16/1 in round 7 or 8.

Very poor yesterday, disappointed that we went unchanged again, Monday will have been draining for players and management alike.
More injuries to contend with just as we were getting long term injured lads back.
The result yesterday likely leaves us out of the automatics mix.

We need to get our act together quickly, we’ve won 8 out of our last twenty two league games.
If we continue in that vein then playoffs are not the given that they have previously been considered.

And I get that argument, but it’s definitely something we need to be looking into in the summer. I’m not looking at us going out and laying 20m down on one, I fully expect it to be a young development thing (Seelt might even be that) but I do belive that we need quality in that position more so that grit and determination.

I feel like this with Rigg to mind, love him to bits but definitely need to manage his time better to offset the risk of burnout.

Absolutely. This has been said on here before Christmas too but was met with (nah, 17 year old, be fine, RLB knows best). Since then Rigg has just broken down and performances have been really poor. I felt for him yday like. Needs coach intervention and the right decision needs to be made.

Quite comical that all O'Nien did wrong yesterday was give away a corner and he's copping so much criticism. It's the way it's always been but it never gets any less ridiculous.

I agree with you, but I do also agree that Meps and Dan should be first choice pairing.

Facts are, they never fit together for long enough.

You and everyone else if they’re honest.

No one expected top two but now some are saying we've failed because we’re not there …

… after all we’re not exactly Luton Town with all that parachute money and ex-PL players.

They had every right to expect top two.
