Poor Rocky, he did go through it. I hope he has a long and happy retirement and I'm glad he did bring you that moment of joy which I'm sure will live long in the memory. I hope you find time to visit him once he is settled in. Regarding the yard, I'm afraid that experience would put me off putting another horse there. All those things together smell of poor management to me. As for saying the back problem was a conformation issue *******, if there was a conformation issue they should have been aware of that long ago. Most jumpers can have a back issue if they aren't managed properly. We had a back specialist regularly visit us to check the horses we were competing; a preventative measure. She had magic hands and could feel and relieve any stiffness at an early stage so it was a routine visit before every competition. She used to treat Red Rum before every Grand National run. It is money well spent because competing without these checks could have very serious consequences. So Nass, I urge you to take this into consideration on your next venture for which I wish you the best and hope you have a more overall enjoyable experience
I dare say others wouldn’t have known about the whole issue… in racing you only find out if you ask. and similarly @Ron from my experiences with other yards, the issues are wide in the sport. I also know people who have had much worse issues with Nicky Henderson and Dan Skelton to name but two. The biggest issue in UK jumps racing is lack of staff and spiralling yard sizes. It’s factory scale sport with lower levels of staffing.
Given the news today, I can say that it picks up my major concern with horse racing. The amount of jabs given to horses almost as standard.
I didn't see what the news was Nass but I can guess. I know of one "famous" bastard who disguised a serious problem and sold the horse at an inflated price, when any decent person would have retired the horse. Such people should be banned from owning/training horses, for life
Interesting - shared this thread with Google Notebook LM https://notebooklm.google.com/notebook/6a8c4998-8823-464d-aa9a-1aaa45f5c34e/audio Fascinating how it takes the gibberish on here and makes it into a half decent story. Albeit it misses Hexham
