There’s no point in Sutton talking about Southampton, we know he knows nothing about our team. Yes we’re the ‘who?’ of the PL but our time will come!!

There is one thing worse than talking about Saints and that is not talking about Saints

I didn't know that Oscar Wilde supported Saints

I've slimmed your post down to just the key points.

I think it was Dr Johnson who said 'he who is tired of talking about Saints and their defensive frailties, slight midfield and toothless attack, is tired of life.' Or something like that.

It was required reading for an OU course I started many moons ago. Completed neither the course nor the book. Hope this helps.

Think I'd currently rather watch Saints than read Dickens tbh.

He said we were brilliant in the first game of the season against Newcastle. We still lost

Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, I'm now expecting the ardour of Jane Austin or Thomas Hardy to emerge.

Sutton may not be well read regarding Saints, but we see ourselves as a well storied club. One thats litterally fictitious in many regards.

Certainly describes our fans. Great Expectations, Sense and sensibility and Far from Madding Crowd. Describes Saints fans at certain times of the season

Given some of our horror displays this season, I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Stephen King. There’s been plenty of Misery, too few Shining performances, unrest in The Stand(s), Tyler Dibling being asked to Carrie the team, Flynn Downes became The Outsider, the space between Jack Stephens’ ears is The Dead Zone, Solak saw what was happening through The Eyes of the Dragon, plenty of fans were off their food and became Thinner, a Bag of Bones and suffered from Insomnia. Russell Martin (Doctor Sleep) reached the End of (his) Watch and had to walk The Green Mile. Four Past Midnight became synonymous with 4 past Ramsdale. After our Elevation from the Championship we have struggled and this year and last are Different Seasons. Some hoped that Juric would be the Firestarter but he couldn’t do It with a Skeleton Crew of poor quality players. Staying up now would be a Fairy Tale and would earn the players kudos but we will more likely get Cujo and end up in The Institute, behind the Pet Sematary, because we are Needful Things.
Still the squad can get some practice at Staplewood, Under the Dome.

And something about Brighton to stay on thread.
