The heavyweight politicians and those with proper conviction seem a thing of the past. Most just blow the wind now and pander to whatever the public sentiment is.

There are a small number that are OK. The ex-Green leader Caroline Lucas always stuck by her principles but was a small voice versus the big parties.

There's little point in relitigating brexit on this thread. However, it is very much linked. These sorts of scenarios are part of why it was such a terrible decision to leave the EU. Isolation and separation from our closest trading partner and most similar allies. The gradual dawning on people that UK is far less crucial to the world (both on trade and militarily) than they thought. The future world that will be defined by competition between big behemoths - in which smaller fish will be made irrelevant. All of this was clear at the time. People may not have liked the EU but it was surprising how many failed to realise that this was a choice between a disappointing thing and a MUCH worse scenario.

She's awful in my opinion but is great at playing in those grey zones, like a female non-controversial Piers Morgan.

I'd love to know on what basis people can confidently claim things like "most people who voted for X did so because Y"? It seems to be that it's just another arrogant way of saying "people who didn't vote the same way that I did, did so because they're idiots/racist/some other slur".

Spot on marra,I just don’t get these people who think they know how and why you voted, most probably their mentality, which is why they resort to insults

It's always good to hear the views of those on the other side of the fence, it helps you make better decisions...

Yet he's still unable to give examples of Brussels dictating to the UK. Enough said.

The bit they leave out is that this is largely by American design. It suited them to project their power into a somewhat demilitarised continent.
