I don't, you reap what you sow. Time for Europe to move on, form a proper pan-european alliance - including a European Army and tell Murica to **** off off our territories and cosy up to BRICS - see how long they last with Xi running rings round them.
One of the greatest 'benefits' of Brexit was that we’d be able to enjoy free trade with countries like America. We now have Trump threatening tariffs on the UK, virtually ignoring us and stomping around in Europe Since we left Europe we’ve weakened it in my opinion. It’s not all about what we got from Europe, what we gave it was also important I believe. And it also feels like we’re out on a limb now. Do we say what we really should about Trump or kowtow to him and, by default, to Putin … … Trump was scary in his first administration, he's now quickly becoming Dr No.
The sad/hilarious thing is that the prospect of a European army was one of the big points used by brexiteers. And now we may be approaching a point where the choice will be between a European army that the UK is a big part of, or an occupying US/Russian one. There’s definitely a scenario where trump is lining us up to be the 52nd state. He’s already talking three terms. Our biggest protection in all this is likely to be cheeseburgers and heart disease.
If theres one thing the yanks are good at are assassinations, if I had some spare cash I'd be putting it all on another one
Yep ! The whole brexit thing was a destabilising activity engineered specifically and we walked straight into this trap.
We're now looking a little isolated which was exactly what I feared. Who are our greatest allies now ... USA, Europe, China, India, Russia? Well at least we can all rejoice in our glorious fishing quotas even though we barely employ anyone in the fishing industry.
Was watching some program on saturday that mentioned that before brexit we exported a rediculous percentage of fishing catch to Europe - since brexit thats gone by the wayside as our prices have gone up and the european fleets are now cheaper. The country shot itself massively in the foot over brexit and we're reaping the "rewards" now.
I've had many conversation with people who voted to leave Europe. Not one person has given me ONE example of how their life is better financially or another other metrics.... massive mistake
4th worst at most behind Stalin, Hitler and chairman Mao. I'd rank him somewhere around Pol Pot but ahead of Pinochet and Peron
Financially, no better or worse to my knowledge, but content with the fact that I can contribute, change a incompetent Government(don’t get me started) every 5 years or less, rather than be dictated to by bureaucrats in Brussels, but would add Trump is really pissing me off with his Ukraine rhetoric and would love the idea of a strong European army and tell him to Fcuk off
I can see the logic in that and the appeal tbh. I would say, however, that the worst period of governmental chaos was when Brussels could no longer apply any control. Perhaps it was just coincidence, I hope so.
I think the vast majority of people who were pro-Brexit would admit that almost none of the advantages it could have brought to the country have been taken advantage of, Brexit meant more independence and that means you need to start moving in the direction of industry, manufacture and the likes, you can't be independent and a consumer paying larger tariffs, our political class are absolutely useless, hardly a decent one amongst the entire lot of them.
