My biggest worry is we run out of steam like last year. I think our lack of investment in the summer and January could come back to haunt us. Grav is the biggest worry his form has dropped recently but putting that down to playing to many games as we have no real backup for him.
100%. Don't get me wrong, everyone knows this squad is not as deep or as broad as the 2022 team, let alone those of 2019/2020, and in all honesty, we only find ourselves here because of City's collapse this season. I started off the season thinking that a domestic cup and CL qualification would be fine in Slot; 's first season - and I believe we've done the CL bit by January, which is outstanding. Nonetheless, that comfort of knowing we have CL next season should have allowed our beancounters to sanction buying a CB and a utility midfielder in the Jan window, given how much wiggle room we have there. I think Macca was meh on Sunday as well - I love Macca, but he can't play 3 games in 8 days, and from Everton onwards, we will have had 5 VITAL games in 14 days. But we knew this in January. I sometimes wish we'd not beaten Spurs over 2 legs, but quite chuffed we got knocked out of the FA cup, tbh. March should be better - providing we don't get PSG in the CL.
I think everyone on here was largely in agreement thst macallister on 8 days rest in total was going to blow up if we didn't buy a midfielder. Not as many agreed on the need for a new lb but some did. We are where we are now and there's no point in thinking about anything but how will get get through the next 13 games. Personally I've zero interest in the cl. We will probably make the quarters if the draw is OK. The league cup final is baked in, I really don't care if the wall stays at 10. It's a nice round even number. 20 is the only number I really think anyone is interested in, not 7, not 11. Everything else is cream on top. We are in the best position since 2019/20. Not as good as position but those are very rare. Anything even within 3 points would have been taken before the season started imo, 7 points clear with 13 to go is amazing. As I said the next 3 are season defining including this game. Villa away, city away, Newcastle home. You could spend the entire lead right there. Take them one at a time and put everything into the first one. I've said many times when the fixtures were announced our run in was horrid. This is the relative last 10 Arsenal Chelsea h Fulham h Everton a Brentford h Ipswich a Palace h Bournemouth a Lfc a Newcastle h Southampton a Now if this were city that's and assumed 100% Ours Southampton h Everton h Fulham a West ham h Leicester a Chelsea a Arsenal h Brighton a Palace h That last 4 is the nightmare. While we play villa, city and Newcastle thry play west ham, forest and utd. If we came out of the next 3 with that 7 point lead i think we will brun down the games to a do or die game v arsenal.
If we haven’t won the league by the time we play Arsenal We are toast I do a little optimistic thing and my notes I have us overtaken at the top by April 1st and us having to beat Everton to go back top
Not true. Only once in the last 6 seasons have City had as many or more points than we have this season after 25 games. Their collapse is the reason they're 16 points behind, that's all.
No Gakpo again tomorrow and Gomez needs an op so expected to be out for the majority of the remaining season.
It makes it very simple. Go as per wolves. Demand a better showing out of the 60mins jota and trent get then focus on finishing stronger than we managed v wolves by bringing 2 cms on as well. Endo or Jones have to come in and macallister has to vacate if he can't stop blowing out of his arse after 50mins Trent sub after a set time. Jota sub tbd as well. We need higher intensity to have any chance against villa.
Looking at it the next 3 for both clubs have certain issues They have home advantage where they need it bar against us. They "should" win the rest, especially as clubs start to see the beach and very little chance of Europe they will tail off (i think Bournemouth will just fall away) I just think the arsenal game will decided it for both clubs.
Not fair. Why do Arsenal get 10 games for their last 10 games, but we only get nine? It's the PGMOL, isn't it? I bet FSG sold one of our games to go towards buying The Boston Celtics.
We have seven at home and six away. After our next two games we'll have seven at home and four away. But given that ****e in the 2nd half against Wolves, is that such an advantage?
Sometimes I wonder if people just want to read people's stuff a certain way thst suits. We've established arsenal have just as tough a run in apparently (positive) and found thst lfc will have more home games in the run in (a positive) but get told we hate football apparently.
