It’s not crazy talk at all. You’ve got precedent in £40m for Archie Gray going to Spurs from Leeds for a start. We need to stop talking down the value of our players. Everybody else wants top dollar for their better players, why shouldn’t we?
Not sure a player of a similar profile to Gray will ever go for that again. I think it was a one-off that nobody will do again myself
Gray was younger than Jobe and a lot more versatile. He’ll be a top player, has been playing out of position for months on end at 18 y/o. Also, I’m sure Rodon went the other way so it wasn’t a straight £40m deal.
What he’s gone on to do since he arrived at Spurs is a different subject. It’s what he cost them. I also think that Jobe will go on to be a top player. Don’t get me wrong, Spurs overpaid for Gray but the precedent is there for us to use in our negotiations in due course.
Not saying it will be common place occurrence but can see it happening again. To be fair, Gray going there seemed to come out of the blue but I think if we get to that stage with Bellingham then it will be no surprise to anyone, there will be huge clubs interested in him (already are according to lads on here who get info). Think back to the elder Bellingham, he went to Dortmund for a lot of money when he had not long been playing first team football. Jobe is in his second full season here now. I hope all of this becomes irrelevant, I think if we can get promoted we might get another season from Jobe before he eventually moves on.
From BBC paper gossip Newcastle would be willing to let Alexander Isak leave for £83.3m (100m euros) this summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, with Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea among those keen on the 25-year-old Sweden striker. (Sport - in Spanish),
It's been rumoured for a while that if they don't make Europe this season, him, Guimares and Botman will be away. Fingers crossed it's true.
True, but also without the attraction of European football as well the money generated from it and having to stay with PSR.
Patto is far from perfect, but there's a significant amount of 'what have you done for me lately' when it comes to him. Didn't cover himself in glory last night, but made crucial saves in games recently. I'd be absolutely fine with him being our keeper next season if we're still in the Champ, but I'd also be comfortable that we could generate a decent fee for him, and replace him pretty well. His time at SAFC is gonna have to be limited with Matty Young coming up on the rails anyway.
