Such a shame that result, To be fair Leeds were all over us like a rash in the 2nd half, but the lads worked their socks off to keep them out. Very proud of our team...if we could go on a 3/4 winning run now...who knows. My only question would be the introduction of Poveda...not sure what he brings to the side that would be considered ahead of Mundle..... I know Mundle is just back from injury...but if he is not ready...why is on the bench...Other than that for me..more positives than negatives
There haven't been any. But some see any dissent against RLB or critique of any player as negative. I don't think it's negative to say that the better team won, that we sat back too much, that the subs didn't work or that Cirkin, Roberts and Rigg didn't have their best games. Neil, Hume, Ballard and O'Nien were also brilliant to a man, Isidor's movement, strength and finish were absolutely top class. We battled brilliantly and they did us proud. I also thought the ref was largely fine. He gave 1 or 2 wrong decisions (as all refs do) and the Isidor booking was ridiculous. But there were no howlers and though I don't think either of the shouts against Cirkin were penalties, you can guarantee we'd have been screaming for injustice if we hadn't been given them. We need to just play the next game now, no point in thinking about chasing the automatica down. Just take the pressure off and win one game at a time. I'd hope that means we can freshen things up a bit too. It's time for Le Fèe to play in the middle and Mayenda needs to be starting more.
We were brilliant 1st half and we knew what was coming 2nd half as this Leeds team is the best in the division and we're gonna go all hell for glory, we still kept them at bay and they didn't really have any clear cut chances but the 1st two subs Leeds made was Luton stuff 2 years ago. Pump it into the middle and let the big boy get his head to it. I'm very proud of my team this morning a little bit upset but that was a match that wouldn't look out of place in the prem.
Yeah, id agree with this. We were brilliant for the first 45. We struck the right balance of defence, shape and counter attack. The latter is essential if you're going to make to the final whistle with the points. Second half we were not so much. We lost that attacking edge and Leeds could then just camp in our half and pepper the final third with balls into the box. They have 74% posession and 11 shots at goal in the second half alone. Whilst Patto was not too busy it was a matter of time before something flashed in. What disappointed me a touch was losing all attacking threat in the second half. We had 26% possession and only made 16 single passes in the final third, 16! Ultimately you can not win games of football like that. Maybe scrape the draw. The subs simply didn't help to change those stats. RLB must find a way to stop the, close up shop and hang on. It's a bit too dangerous and I don't feel it suits us too much. This is reflective in the points lost from last 20 mins. Our squad man for man is better than everyone apart from Leeds IMO so we need to use it too attack. Like you say, it's extremely likely to be play offs, I would like to see the handbrake let off a touch. Rigg needs benching. Mundle back in. ELF in the middle. Possibly Mayenda getting more minutes. Get some proper pace in the team. Another issue that killed out second half counter yday. Roberts and Rigg provided zero break out speed. Mundle and Mayenda would. Just some thoughts, don't want anyone burning at the stake or anything.
Up early....couldn't sleep and haven't read the whole thread but here's my twuppence worth. We played brilliantly for an hour and Leeds weren't hurting us at all. Farke changed the game when he brought on Rothwell and Stryke, one for his delivery on crosses and Stryke not for his defending but his ability in the six yard box getting on the end of Rothwells crosses which he did twice. Did we run out of steam ? or did we not have an answer to Leeds relentless second half play...a bit of both of I'm honest. For all their dominance we defended brilliantly, Patto hasn't had a note worthy save to make all night...mind we barely troubled they're keeper second half. Fair play to they're manager for coming up with a solution which was very Lutonesqe but proved very effective in the end. A bit ironic that they did to us in the last minute what we did to them at the SOL....you couldn't make it up. Proud of the lads, I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, manager or players its just we fell short in the end of a pulsating game which was a credit to Championship football and was unworthy of so many yellow cards, the majority of which we picked up but that's a bit nit picking. Reggie has to pick these lads up now, this'll been a big blow to these young lads and we go again at the weekend, all isn't lost in this promotion race....far from it.
Just re-watched the second goal their on sky sports news (turned it straight off last night when the ball hit the net in a huff) Reluctant to blame Patterson because I do that I do that enough with his distribution from his feet but my word you’ve got to do better there.
It's the basics. First one I don't think he can come. Ball is good and lots in front of him. Second one is lead boots and bad timing. Just completely misses it, really really poor goalkeeping. His kicking was terrible last night too again. It's been done to death but i would be looking to fresh ideas in the sticks or seeing if young is ready next season.
At the end of the night we bottled it, no sugar coating it. Home at 1am up at 6.30, so we move on to playoffs. That's SAFC for you.
Not complaining about them and them being wrong are different things entirely. What a weird thing to say
Slept on it and gutted for the lads, they put everything into that I know some are saying we didn't deserve to lose but personally think the better side won (just). The 2nd half was so disappointing and that's when we need to use the bench better, it's such a hard shift against leeds as they attack in numbers and at pace so there's a lot of ground to cover. Rigg and Roberts are issues in games like this at the minute, think someone mentioned it but they just don't have the pace to counter on teams. It meant that Leeds could just keep commiting players forward without the risk of being countered on. As I said when the subs happened I didn't hate the 1st 2 subs, but i did hate Samed as an AM - he looked lost in that role and offered no protection in front of jobe and Neil. I totally love this team though, they don't half play for each other and us fans. We are always in games and we are a very hard team to beat. I think once Mundle and Watson are back we will go up a level. I also hope what Bob said about Danns coming up this week is true as feel he will give us a cracking option off the bench. I'm not ruling out automatic promotion just yet but we can't have many/if any major slip ups I would freshen things up slightly on Saturday: Patterson Hume ballard o9 cirkin Neil jobe Poveda mayenda le Fee Isidor Obviously if mundle is fit to start i would start him but think he needs easied back in. Poveda won't be a popular one but Roberts has more bad games than good at the minute and I would like to see what Poveda can do from the start as he did a few nice things when he came on last 2 games imo
Yeah it was me who said it. It's rather clear when you watch the game from a tactical viewpoint. Something I do more at away games, as I have to watch from home and hardly ever have a beer, unlike home games. Interested shout for the team for Hull. Personally I think we have to make a move to get ELF in the middle. That time has come. Even if Mayenda plays outside for 60 before using Mundle.
Haway then Monty, who should we bin RLB for then? RLB is not perfect at all but he’s done some job with these lads. We’ve lost 5 games all season. Some in this fanbase are absolutely mental
I def want Le Fee inside ASAP, I don't really like Mayenda on the Left so that's why I had him more central I'd like us to go 442 against Hull, Mayenda has to start for me - it's just what position he plays It's nice that we are getting options back
Sometimes it’s difficult to just ignore, this place is the most level headed part of our online fanbase there’s always middle ground. I do think second half we were way too passive and sloppy but the game plan was working until Roberts decided to give a nothing foul away and we almost took a point. It stings this morning but we need to move on.
Aside from Enzo and Wilson all of those players were regular starters in a team that finished 16th LAST SEASON the result was disappointing but the improvement in such a short time is staggering
