I don't know. He jumped clubs alot but... Changing allegiance is one thing. Having once supporter Everton and United at one point in his life, would be massive duckery to support Liverpool or City your once sworn rivals. The Everton to Spurs thing kind of made sense because he was a massive Gary Linekar fan. The United thing was the real crap move.
Think the Everton/United interchangeability thing is quite common if the Blueshites in my family are anything to go by.
Does anyone have a picture of that trophy Everton bought in the early 80s to fit the space in their cabinet for a European Cup after they had measured ours? Thanks in advance.
Wow. Just wow. Every club - not just Chelsea, ours included - should pay every ****ing penny of this back if they've claimed it. Outrageous, unless it has been genuinely claimed for advancing physiotherapy or allowed medical access to hi-tec equipment in training grounds (that they should do for ****ing free anyway, IMO).
Reading the report it says "28 sports teams" - spread across football, rugby and cricket. It only mentions Chelsea and Forest so they could be the only 2 PL teams claiming.
There have been absolutely loads of false claims under the R&D credits scheme, a lot of the time by false advisors making claims on behalf of clients who didn't know better, tough you suspect that clubs like Chelsea and Forest knew exactly what they were doing. If we were involved, I would have thought that we would have been mentioned for the clicks. It appears that Chelsea claimed £2m. Abhorrant in the general scheme of things, but ultimately not that significant from a purely footballing perspective.
Hmm. I think £2m from a club that has spent over £1bn in transfer fees in the last few years is abhorrent AND significant in the sense that you're talking about the annual salary of 40 specialist nurses there. Nobody wants to pay more tax than they need to, but tax evasion - that's what this is - is corrupt when it's done by companies. And that applies to my own club too if they're doing it.
If it's been claimed and received by the clubs then, unless they were lying as to what it was for, it looks like a loophole needs to be closed. Either way, it's shocking that a professional football club would be willing to engage in this sort of money grab. I sincerely hope we have stayed well clear.
Oh I agree, I just meant that the £2m probably didn't make a massive difference to their net spend or footballing fortunes. If they knowingly claimed R&D tax credits that they're not entitled to (and they might have been entitled to them, albeit it seems unlikely), then it's not tax evasion, it's tax fraud.
So far this evening Mignolet has saved a penalty for Brugge against Atalanta and Minamino this scored for Monaco away to Benfica. Both currently on the way to the next round
