while I suspect this was tongue in cheek, it’s worth pointing out that the Division One team had players who prospered in the Prem a couple of seasons later. If we put the current lot down there now I wouldn’t bet on them getting out!
I agree Bednarek is probably not the CB we’d all like to see in the team for various reasons. He made a mistake on his loan to Villa, he admitted he did and faced the music since. But until things are properly sorted out (hopefully!!!) he’s here and is by no means the reason we are where we are. I get it that we’re all hacked off with things and have been for sometime but whatever the situation, players that we know will do their best, good enough or otherwise, aiming vitriol at them as I heard on Saturday, not just WS, then ‘we’ as supporters are also part of the problem on match days. One guy sitting near me said ‘this is hopeless, the crowd jeering our own, ok so we’re nowhere near PL on this showing but for crying out loud they’ll not improve under these circumstances’. Now that was in the first half, come the second and a goal comes after a much better patch of play from us and the crowd lifted the team. Ok we leaked a goal again but let’s not kill the team with quickly used abuse. It simply doesn’t work. Criticism is necessary but is totally different from personal abuse.
It was, but, I felt we got promoted from the Champ, this time, too soon Particularly because we then didn’t improve the squad
