I'd have thought so, the clause is active for as long as he's at the club, though I'm a bit worried if we can't pay £3m for a player anymore. Not gonna be very fun if we have to buy in the Summer.
I don't think it's reasonable to suggest we can't pay 3m for a player anymore when we just paid close to that for Matazo and are reportedly signing Zambrano for a bit less. What's far more likely is just trying to be cute with reporting period and which year it falls into. We're playing with fire doing that though when it could or has started to impact results.
It was discussed in the Zambrano thread that there were local reports that we had triggered his buy clause for a round 2m I thought. Obviously nothing confirmed and we may be waiting on confirmation post his hearing before making that fact but I think it's all but certain we're buying him.
But that doesn't make him the best DM by default it just means you have to adjust how you assess his performances against other players. As I mentioned the last time we had this discussion, if no other side plays with a lone DM, then if a side looks to sign him it would be to perform next to another DM anyway.
All I'll say is, if Puerto is down to FFP (waiting til March) or because we have decided we don't want to buy him.... Then we are a ****ing circus!
The end of the financial year for football clubs is June and the FFP spending rules are also by season.
May be wrong, but wasn't it Baz who originally reported about the Puerta deal. Also, not 100% sure on the direct quote, but I think on his podcast in early Jan he hinted that it was getting close, and that we were negotiating with Leverkusen to sign him permanently at a lower price or something, instead of triggering the obligation. Now he's acting like people are ridiculous for asking. Like others have said, sounds like he just reports what he's told by the club.
Fair enough, so hopefully he’ll be back in the team because if it is because they don’t want to trigger the clause yet, then he won’t play again this season and that’s ridiculous. He was clearly dropped to accommodate Crooks, which seems like a fair shout as he has two goals already, but I think he’s a better partner for Alzate than Slater is.
All them booing kids. Id expect it from Jamie Vardy. All a bit poor IMO. Ignore them and get on with proving them wrong. One assist hardly covers up for the shower of **** season he has had. He IMO has been at fault for quite a few goals. Dont know what's gone so wrong for him this season. Walter maybe.
