You can get 100/1 on Sunderland 1-0 Isidor, and the odds only get higher for other goalscorers... I stuck a quid on that scoreline with each of our outfield players as the scorer <laugh>

I reckon he scored about half a dozen times, in four seasons, at Leeds ...

    ... if he's a legend there's still a chance for Wayne Entwistle <laugh>

Regis Le Bris outlines Sunderland's tactics for trip to Leeds United

    upload_2025-2-17_8-14-38.jpeg

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...tlines-sunderlands-tactics-trip-leeds-united/

REGIS LE BRIS says Sunderland must be brave enough to ‘play their own game’ when they take on promotion rivals Leeds United.…

“We have to focus on our own game,” said the Sunderland boss. “We know they (Leeds) are a threat, and we know they can be dangerous, so if we are naïve, we will be punished for sure. But at the same time, if we don’t play our best football, it doesn’t mean anything.

“It’s a good test for us because we have played well away against the best teams so far. I think we have good qualities to play against these kind of opponents, it is just a question of pragmatism because we can’t just afford to allow them to play how they want to.

“But at the same time, if we don’t damage their defence and use our best strengths, then we will have many regrets at the end.”

Le Bris will make some tactical tweaks to deal with Leeds’ aggressive, front-foot approach, but insists he will not be ripping up his usual template just because his side are facing an opposition that are unbeaten in their last 14 league games.

“We have to keep our ideas,” he said. “At the same time, we always have small variations in different moments. We know they are very aggressive, probably man-for-man, and when we come up against a team like that, we don’t play in the same way as when we come up against a different formation. That is just a question of adaptation according to the problem you have.”

Great article, Smug. Gives you a buzz and it's a reminder of the bigger picture that it's easy to lose sight of.

Le Fee will play a massive part tonight imo. He’s always looking for the killer ball to set Isidor away and that’ll be vital for us on the counter

Great thread as always RTB will have to try and stream it as I’ll be at the mercy of LNER got a bit of a feeling for this one but as many have said Leeds are the best team I’ve seen this season at our place, I’d take draw right now but heart says hold out and enjoy the ride, safe travels and enjoy to all going the night

It's clear the club has a plan which they'll stick to through whatever knocks and setbacks we have.

Surely, by now, even those who've been the club's biggest critics can see how much better this all is than the previous regimes.

Can they accept that, if the club had done things how they'd suggested, we'd now have the same old predictable bunch of adequate Championship players, with Championship experience and Championship ambitions. Instead we now have players who are coveted by other clubs and have endless potential. There's been a constant moan about the foreign players we've brought in but we now have the likes of Isidor, Le Fée and Mayenda who give us the kind of football we could barely have dreamt of.

Perhaps having an open minded manager has helped in that respect. Neil and Mowbray were tools to do a job but too limited, in their outlook, to take us to the point whereby we can go to the PL with a capable squad and the ability to compete. Neil wanted older players used to his brand of football and Mowbray seemed incapable of accepting and developing those 'foreigners'.

More and more people seem to be dropping their anti-Speakman/anti-Sunderland grudges and opening up to a different way of doing things ...

... if they can't they'll be missing out on some exciting times in my opinion.

Leeds are susceptible to giving away free kicks outside the box ...

... two or three of them and I'd be backing Le Fée to knock one in, especially if Meslier is dazzled by the lights again.

I'd get the two wide players to keep running at their defence and see how strong the referee is ... a couple of early bookings would be nice.
