Their whole defence just standing there while Maddison puts the ball in was pathetic. Not as pathetic as Casemiro's dive, mind. Should've been a 2nd yellow, but he's not Bissouma.
Looks can be deceiving What you actually see is a large group of people walking to the stadium, which the berks with banners stood in the middle of to try and make it look like there were more people there than there actually were The video Alasdair Gold posted of it reveals this, as you see when they reach the stadium the majority of the so-called group break off and head towards Chips Town, while WeAreTottenhamTV unwittingly exposed most of the "crowd" were just people trying to get to the stadium but were getting held up by a couple of dozen berks carrying the cheapest banner their local printing shop could knock up
Quite a good plan to chose a march route that goes from Lordship Lane to the West Stand just before a match.
Very. We were two of them chomping on a our burgers as we walked into the ground minding our own. Ok there was certainly more than the usual little group that gathers opposite the shop but I seriously doubt it was as large as the media is trying to portray. Crap game though, I am genuinely shocked as to how poor Utd were....
Same with Jota's dive against Wolves. Such a dive that a penalty was given and then overturned. Don't understand why that isn't a yellow.
He was awful in general today. Planted and watched along with De Ligt and Maguire as Maddison tapped in, offered little grit in the middle vs our midfield three and just done very little for Utd. Far cry from a player who at one point would’ve been in the conversation as the best DM on the planet. He’s aged about 10 years since joining Utd in my opinion.
Real knew he was on a downward curve when they sold him. They probably could have gotten another year of worth out of him - he had an impactful first season at United - but they got good money for him and probably felt pretty good about it.
Man U were shockingly awful but the fact that spurs only won 1-0 just goes to show we are just as bad, especially as they should have at least got one goal against us. But at this stage, it’s points we need so that’s good. After the game when the players were on the pitch applauding the fans, I saw Ange walk round to the players and I’m sure I saw Kulu walk straight past Ange blanking him completely.
I agree. I'm not sure what all the jubilation is about. We were average all over the pitch and against better opposition probably would have lost.
Indeed! My youngest was asking why I didn’t cheer when spurs scored. Hard to explain to a child that the club has devoured all my enthusiasm especially when it’s evident that Spurs were still a mess yesterday. Only two players could be applauded yesterday (Spence and Vic). I truly do believe that it’s the coaching personnel that is failing rather than the players.
Spence and Vicario were excellent but I also thought Maddison did well. I think getting Kulu and Gray (playing midfield) rested will sort our issues out to a degree.
Should have but didn't; how many times was that us earlier in the season? You can only beat what is front of you on the day and we did that. I agree that we weren't great by any stretch of the imagination we have played better this season and lost, but at the moment we do just need wins and the clean sheet was an added bonus. I agree with your later point that Spence and Vic should be applauded but Danso, Bergvall and Bentancur also put in decent shifts and it was good to see Johnson, Maddison and Odobert back on the pitch.
Hilarious to see the Nomad-pilled feeds try and say beating Man Utd isn't some kind of achievement Remind me, which team knocked them out of the FA Cup a few weeks ago...?
A win, a clean sheet and an improving availability situation... The very good: Spence & Vic The good: Bergvall, Danso, Davies, Maddison The average: Porro, Bentancur, Son, Kulusevski, Tel Tel gets a free pass for this one and hopefully he will settle in quickly. Odobert looked really bright when he came on and with Archie getting a rest, I'd like to see both starting next time. I'd also switch Djed to RB and bring in Udogie. Reasons to be hopeful, but the pressure is on Ange to produce now that he cannot hide behind the injury crisis.
Yeah agree with all that. I think right now we simply need points on the board and how they come is secondary. The performance wasn’t terrible though, I agree with those individuals you’ve praised. Tel unfortunately was the only sort of individual downer but at 19 and in his Prem debut, it’s safe to say he can be forgiven! He hasn’t played a lot of football this season either so that’s something to take into account. He found space quite well at times so hopefully once he’s more settled he’ll finish some of those chances he squandered. I thought Ange managed quite well yesterday too. The subs on 65 mins especially were really well timed. Prevented burning Maddison out after returning from injury but Sarr and Johnson really helped cull the momentum Utd started to build in that second half.
