Anyone watching Chelsea vs Valencia? Surely a struggling Chelsea side comfortably beating Valencia proves that la Liga isn't just a glorified SPL with no quality outside the top 2 (in some stupid, warped La Liga lover way). The defending for Chelsea's second goal in particular was typical of the "quality" in La Liga.
You mean Olympiakos beating Arsenal's 2nd string in a game Arsenal don't need anything from? Nevermind that without Van Persie Arsenal would struggle to beat Leyton Orient.
By that logic with Man U drawing with Newcastle and Chelsea beating us 3-0 a week later then Chelsea must be far superior to Man U? Either you agree or your arguement goes out the window
Was it the Barca president who suggested that CL games be played on the weekend? I think even they know what direction their league is heading if the top two continue to dominate La Liga the way they do.
One of the best defensive displays or one off the biggest disgraces to football those games ....... depending on what your view of good football is
La Liga will never be an exciting league with the way the TV money is spread. If I remember correctly the top 2 teams last season got around €140m, 3rd place only got around €40m and the bottom half a dozen teams only got around €12m, unlike the EPL where I think all of the top 5 got €60-€68m with Blackpool receiving around €45m for finishing bottom.
And the Swiss and Portuguese leagues are as good as the EPL cos Basel and Benfica got draws at the swamp? You talk some **** lad!
2008 barca were in crisis; 17 points off top of la liga (and you still parked the bus) Madrid regularly evicerated you in the 00s too
Maybe I need to elaborate. Valencia and Vilareal have failed to progress beyond the Champions League Group Stage. Again, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the only two Spanish sides to progress while the others fail miserably. This shows that there is a lack of quality beyond the top 2 in La Liga.
Well, the supposedly weaker English sides of Arsenal and Chelsea have progressed (winning their groups I might add) so that already suggests that the Premiership has greater strength in depth. Man Utd need just a point to go through while I always expected Man City to struggle in their first season in the Champions League due to a lack of experience, an excuse that Valencia and Vilarreal can not use.
