I believe we can get promoted automatically.

Based on what I am seeing, I don't think we will.

    Simple as that really.

If we win we are hot on the heels. If we lose we aren't. This team will keep going and are almost on two points a game, which is more than I dreamed of.

It is about as much as you can hope without parachute payments. We were not that far off getting out of this league through the wrong door last season. This one has been astonishing. We might win, we might lose. But I do not count us out against any team, and the team won't count themselves out.

    0-3. Feckem all.

Don’t get me wrong. I tell myself we’re gonna lose every game. I’m a Sunderland fan. But we’ve been very much in the mix all season and we pretty much still are. It’d be easier to dismiss our challenge if we hadn’t got all this way and still remain super close. We even clawed back most of what we lost in the autumn so even that wasn’t terminal. Definitely the second most talented team in my view. Might not end up being enough but it’s not always talent that gets you there. Luck, grit and lord knows how many other factors can affect things.

On Sheffield United - they’ve bounced back superbly well since losing up here

7 wins from 8. I just don’t see any of the sides above us losing many games at all

Reckon SheffU & Burnley fans will be hoping for a draw or a Leeds win.

They’re gonna be right pi$$ed AFF when we win.

We have to start finding better results when we have horrible off days. Other than the first couple of months of the season we haven't looked like we would finish in the top two for me, just hasn't quite clicked for us.

Hopefully the left wingers coming back changes that.

Getting Mundle/Watson back (especially Watson imo) and playing Le Fee in his natural position (at the expense of Rigg) could be massive for our season.

I know they won, but personally thought Sheff Utd looked worse than Burnley

Whatever happens, isn’t it great to be involved in a credible automatic promotion.

We could have been in and amongst the likes of Norwich fighting to get in to the play off places (which are at worst a certainty now)
That’s what most of us would have thought when this season began.

This is a bonus and it means we have two chances of promotion.
If we miss out this year I think next year will be even better and the Championship is a great league anyway.
We will certainly enjoy more weekends if we are still in this league next year.

On Leeds, we do seem to be a bit of a bogey team for them so who knows what will happen on Monday.

I believe Leeds will win the league, they are by far the best team. I still think we are better than Sheffield Utd and Burnley.

You would think so wouldn’t you …

… most recent L1 supporters would be ecstatic to be in our position.

If all fails we get to the point where we’re asked,
“Sorry you weren’t promoted but, not to worry, would you fancy three more games and you’re up?”

How on earth can people not be excited ffs!

For some the answer will be,
“Nah, we don’t have the momentum and we’d probably just struggle anyway,” <doh>

Or if we bought this player or that player we would've gone up automatically!

Correct, as if doing what they suggest would mean promotion would’ve been guaranteed …

… like keeping Ross Stewart or signing Kieffer Moore or replacing Roberts or bringing on more substitutes.

If you believe we can get autos but don't think we will then surely its not apparent! Or maybe that's just my interpretation of things.
I will agree that at this moment it looks more likely for play offs but in 5 games time it may look a lot different.
Leicester won the premier league ffs when it was apparent at the start of that season they had no chance.
At the start of this season only 1 neutral person I have seen tipped Sunderland. What is apparent is we have exceeded most peoples expectations this season already and I hope we continue to do this for the rest of the games.

As it stands right now, it does look more likely it will be play offs for us, which at the start of the season we all would have gladly accepted. That said. IF we win at Leeds then we are right in the mix. I have no idea why, but I have a gut feeling we will do OK at Elland Road...When Mundle eventually comes on and lets Le Fee on the inside...we will become a different team...we could Surprise Leeds

Certainly don’t feel it’s a must win game. In fact with Burnley dropping points yesterday it’s taken a bit of pressure off. Shame Sheff utd nicked a winner but from all accounts they were quite poor. Don’t forget they lost Hamer and Cannon to injury last game (no idea for how long) but this could affect them for the remaining games. Burnley will get plenty more 0-0 draws. I honestly think we can rein them in - plenty games left, key players coming back. I’m personally looking forward to a very exciting end to the season!
