1. Gale - without question..... and what a piece of good business to extend his contract to Summer 2027 ( + Club option for 1 year)..... although I expect he may be sold for big money before then. 2. Smith - really good, solid player. 3. Morris - despite his howler when Crewe's Powell missed an open goal... Morris made a couple of important stops - and therefore is marginally ahead of McKenzie and Little. Gills were unlucky not to take all 3 points... Great effort and decent passion...On another day we would have got the luck that our performance deserved - and perhaps, at least one penalty -- but that would have required the Officials opening their eyes.........all-in-all, I expect Gills will play a lot worse and win games !
A better performance today just like the end of the Walsall game however still that lack of cutting edge sadly. When will we start scoring some goals ? It's an easy choice for me for man of the match and I'd imagine most would choose the same man. 1. Gale- I generally believe this guy may be our leader in the coming years! The guy is immense. His confidence is very clear to see and he's also a right hand full from set pieces. If we were going to score today he looked like the most likely output. I guess the only worry is how long before bigger clubs start looking at him. 2. Corness- It was a big mistake taking him off when we did to be honest. His deliveries and passing is far better than anyone else in the team. I personally believe if we hadn't made the 4 subs before the red card that we may have gone on and won the game if we had kept him and Morgan on. 3. Smith- Solid defender, I was struggling to choose someone for third. Morgan had a few good runs but I think Smith edged it for me. He's the sort of player I would like to see us sign next season. Overall a much better performance as I said above, however it does feel like a real missed opportunity to not snatch the win. There were a number of players who I could point out who seem to have upped their game in the last 2 games but we will really need them to be on their top game next week as Carlisle is now a must win!
1. Gale, outstanding in all aspects of the game 2. Smith - An excellent addition to the squad the 3 man defence giving us a very good platform 3. Corness - Finally a midfielder who can pick a pass Best home performance for months, and but for a questionable referee decision we would have got the win. I thought that 3 of the 4 subs made a real impact, Nolans delivery was excellent, Hawkins caused all manner of problems and Dack gave us good old pro nous, and was instrumental in us playing 10 men for the last 15 mins just a shame we couldn't take advantage on another day we might have scored 3 or 4 and we have not said that often this season.
1, Gale such a mature performance from a young player loves to drive forward at pace6as well as looking composed in defence. 2, Smith would be great if we could sign glhim on a permanent in the summer. 3, Nevitt covered so much ground I would like to see him and Hawkins start as I think once they develop an understanding they could be a useful forward pairing. Little was great all over the pitch Ehmer had a good game and McKenzie looked totally knackered after another great performance. It does feel like it's coming together and what a bold move to make 4 substitutions when we were already on the front foot.
1. Gale 2. Smith 3. McKenzie I think its time Coleman looked to drop Nevitt in favour of Hawkins. The Hawk has an ability of drawing two players out of the game rather than one that creates the spaces for someone like Morgan to run into. Whilst Nevitt may run around a lot, he's at the moment not proving to be effective, and if anything proving to be a modern day Gary Mulligan who surprisingly scored more than Nevitt does.
