Unfortunate goal to concede, not much we could’ve done to stop it.

On a wider note, this referee is giving us absolutely nothing today. Thought the first yellow for Tuanzebe was harsh.

Palmer with another top save. If only we’d got him back in the summer … what might have been!

He looks like the player he's expected to be. Been lively, intelligent forward passes and looks interested in playing.

He seemed quite busy when he came on against Spurs last week.

That’s a great point - even better as we played the majority of that match with only ten men.

Lots of positives and good performances - but Palmer in goal the pick for me. Stepped up and made several key saves - such a difference when you consider the amount of mistakes and poor shots both Muric and Walton have conceded this season. Gives us a good platform to hopefully get more points on the board and overtake Wolves.

**** yeah, that could be an important point!

The match could've been so much different if we had eleven men but we dug in and got an away point.

Palmer made some great saves to keep us in it and the change to five at the back at the expense of an attacker was a good call from McK at half time.

This result and performance will continue to help the confidence of the team as we try our best to stay up.

Credit to Townsend too. Thought he had a really good game at left back. Over the past two and half games, he looks more defensively solid than Davis. Good to see we’ve got a bit of competition at left back.

Fantastic result, hopefully that's a sign of things to come from Palmer, though I hope we won't need to rely on him as much.
Seem cursed to not have Tuanzabe available.
    On to Tottenham.

Great point, there was some mixed performances for me, but when we went down to 10 men I thought we handled the game pretty well and McKenna tactically did the right things.

First half with 11, I thought we looked quite pedestrian on the ball and strangely for us we looked weaker defensively through the middle than out wide. Thought Watkins movement was causing the backline problems, Phillips pressing confuses me as he rarely get the ball and leaves huge gaps (including one leading to Tuanzebe needing to step in and get sent off) and Cajuste started pretty slow.

Thought Tuanzebes 2nd yellow was definitely a yellow although he wasn't helped by Phillips or his CBs, the first wasn't even a foul let alone a yellow card.

Palmer was superb, shame we didn't get him in the summer, I think we'd be in a different position now, hope it's a sign of things to come. McKenna clearly felt Muric isn't up to it.

Thought O'Shea and Greaves got caught a couple of times first half but once Woolfenden came on all 3 looked pretty solid and made some great blocks/interceptions.

As others have said we looked far more solid defensively with Townsend on the left. Johnson pretty ineffectual on the right.

In terms Delap, on the ball he can be outstanding but I still think his movement is not in the same league as Hirst, he's often more happy coming deep rather than running in behind and that means there's not as much of an out ball for us to take the pressure off and not as much space for our other attacking players. But as ever when he gets on the ball he shows his quality and it was an outstanding finish.

Hutchinson who I've criticised a lot this season but I thought whilst he didn't get much on the ball time, he did well to create the goal and his chasing back and pressing were superb, he showed great tenacity and strength and for me ran Palmer close for MoM.

Up to the red card that was our best performance to date. Had we signed Palmer in the summer I reckon we’d be comfortable. Nothing more to say.

    Gaffer's take

Ipswich spirit, courage and resilience was magnificent

Palmer shone and on his Premier debut, rallied the defense time and time again. Finally looks like we have a safe pair of hands between the sticks. If only....

Axel 1st yellow was a shocker, he played the ball no visible contact, hope we can appeal that.

Fans were superb, our 11th man.

Did we miss Morsy & Davis? Not sure we did.

    Omari more confident and
delivered pinpoint cross for Delap to score. His pressing was awesome

Showed great team spirit and belief that will keep Ipswich up this season.

Delap did what Delap does, but the whole team performance with 10 men away to a Champions League opponent was impressive.

Phillips & Cajouste grew into the game.

Liked Townsend too.Perhaps play Townsend with Lief in front of him? Give us attacking threat and assists, and more solid down that left hand side that has been a weak spot and exploited at this level with Davis pushing so far up.

What a difference bringing on our boy Woolfy made.

Proud to be a tractor boy!

"Former referees’ chief Keith Hackett has backed Town boss Kieran McKenna’s view that Axel Tuanzebe’s dismissal during the first half of yesterday’s 1-1 draw at Aston Villa was “a really poor red card”.

It might have been a different outcome.
