Zaroury came with high expectations, scored a few goals then was anonymous for the rest of the season, in my opinion.

I agree with most of that but I’d swap Crooks for Matazo. Matazo was relatively cheap and has longevity. Crooks looks like he’s already thinking about retirement. Looks frigged after 30 minutes every time I’ve seen him play.

I think we could’ve done without Egan, Crooks, Lincoln and Amrabat if it meant we got a left-back.

Crooks is an impact sub until he catches up. Was excellent first half against Sheff U but crap the other night

Seeing as you're spoiling for an Internet fight on nearly every thread today I'll bite. To me it looks as more context gets added getting too many new players in January ends up making the team get worse, just as it did with Rosenior this time last year.

Proven, experienced player, which we were lacking. But trust city fans to write him off before he's even got started whilst in what is effectively his pre season.

Exactly this, he looks off the pace, he needs to build back his toughness, I think in the US, the game is less physical.

But only time will tell on that theory

It was really noticeable in the Stoke game. Matazo doing funny little show-off touches when we were 1-0 up and seemingly on top, but not actually creating much at all, and then carelessly spooning one into the stand with his next pass. But I think it's in the stands as well, it's easy to get the feeling we're coasting when we're actually not. I felt it myself at the time and it's only in hindsight I think hang on, I should've been nervous about losing that lead.

Very similar to the Millwall home game last year. We had all the new signings plus Philogene back from injury, scored and early and were totally on top, Carvalho and Philogene were having a blast doing stepovers and stuff, but we didn't actually create much, and then we almost lost 2 points at the end when Bradshaw had a great chance out of nowhere but hit it straight at the keeper. And in hindsight you felt, that was nowhere near as comfortable as it should've been based on the first half hour. Different outcome but similar fault.

I can only speak for myself but when we're 1-0 up at home I'm always thinking
"We need to score a 2nd here while we're on top"

I think everyone thinks that, We have seen so few wins over the past year you can never be confident especially been on top and having opportunities to finish it .Time and time again we’ve let ourselves down and it’s about time that changed.

If the Stoke game didn't manage it, then the Burnley one should bring them right back down to earth. The mission is now clear as day.

I agree. After the first 30 minutes I thought we were gonna go 3-0 up by the end of the half, then they made it 1-1. There’s a difference between confidence and complacency and you see that by their reaction when Stoke scored an equaliser. It wasn’t ’minor setback, let’s keep going and get three points’, it was more like ‘oh ****, it’s happened again’. You could sense the whole mood of the game change for both the players and supporters when Stoke scored that equaliser. We went from being cocky to shellshocked and unable to respond.

    Totally agree
It's a game of fine margins. If Matazo second chance or Pedro's chance go in i think we win easy but they didn't and we all know what happened

Know you've made this point before about when we're on top, do we really create much? And I agree with you - often no more than a few half chances.

January should be for addressing injuries, filling gaps and getting backup in needed areas, but nothing more.

Last January we signed players that were undeniably more talented than what we had before, but we managed more points with the less technically gifted players who knew each other and were better at playing as a team.

A squad that plays as a team often makes up for a lack of talent, and we tossed that out for a bunch of flashy loans. I wish we’d have just brought in Carvalho and none of the rest.

Luckily, this season we haven’t had a squad that has gelled as a team, so we’re not really disrupting anything.

I know he’s not the most lauded of our recent managers, but my recollection of Adkins’ reign is that we started fairly poorly but over time he turned us into a decent side based on continuity, people understanding what their role was, team spirit etc.

Overall I thought he was a decent manager for us at that time, but under the current regime I imagine he’d have been a miserable failure because of the constant churn of players.

It changes what the manager’s role is, and makes the job harder. Even if the players coming in are better than those they replace on paper, when you overdo it and change more than a couple at once it just throws the understanding and togetherness you’ve built up out of the window.

If legend is correct many Norwich ladies will be getting 20% more foreplay than the ladies in the rest of the Country tonight. (Scunthorpe, Sheffield & Leeds may be the exception to the rule)

He played reasonably regularly though so Rosenior had to get the side operating with him in it.
