Windass also got sent off whilst a substitute in a match for Aberdeen. I believe the referees report said in that game that he would have sent him off 3 times or something for his various spats of behaviour. I think loads of players have been booked whilst warming up incidentally.
There was one at the KC, I have a feeling it was Carlisle. They were making a sub and the guy coming off had a go at the ref on his way off the pitch and the ref just sent him off. He'd just stepped off the grass so his replacement was allowed to come on but if he'd done it seconds earlier they'd have had to play with 10 men.
Was funny when Deano got booked at stoke warming up too Didnt he get 3 reds at aberdeen in same match? One in play, one for gobbing off and one for threatening ref in the car park after LMAO
Didn't Les Mutrie get sent off once at BP, as the teams were walking down the tunnel after the game.. Something to do with an altercation occurring as they walked off.
Slightly off topic but wasn't a Hull City player the first ever to come on as a substitute, or the first ever substitute to score a goal? Might be an ubran myth but I think it is one or the other. Anyone know.
Ahhh. Just checked....It's an urban myth... On 21 August 1965, Keith Peacock of Charlton Athletic became the first substitute used in the Football League when he replaced injured goalkeeper Mike Rose eleven minutes into their away match against Bolton Wanderers.[6] On the same day, Bobby Knox became the first ever substitute to score a goal when he scored for Barrow against Wrexham.[7]
