Conceding in the first 3 mins to this burnley side is the worst possible thing you can do and realistically it was game over then Their 10 clean sheets in a row is testament to that Its unprecedented insanity really 9 goals in 32 games We wont have a tougher game for the rest of the season Its all about the response against norwich Im sure selles learnt a lot
It was a mismatch from minute 1. Didn't matter whether Anthony received the ball to feet and went 1v1 with McLoughlin or made runs in behind for a ball over the top. 9 times out of 10, he had him on toast. Macca lacked the pace but also the mobility to deal with him. It was a mistake to start Macca at left-back.
The defensive side is obvious But macca has no speed, so hes also a terrible pick there for the attacking side too on and off the ball How did we not bring in a single fullback? What are these highly paid recruitment employees thinking??
I think this is what Selles meant by he got the pressure wrong. Kamara and Gelhardt were pressing high and Burley bypassed the press with relative ease leaving them a lot of ground to cover and constant 1v1s for their wingers
Don’t disagree mate, just part of the process for Selles unfortunately needing to learn. I hope we don’t make the mistake again.
i said before the game, it seemed like we were just copy and pasting the sheff utd strategy, but like you say, young mangers are always learning for me a slight worry is, this system makes joseph look worse than he is, or i guess, i just feel like hes going to be scapegoated soon unless he scores
I don't get why people keep mentioning Sheff Utd as if it worked / we did it against them so therefore..... It was one of those weird unexpected results that football throws up once in a very rare while.
He should’ve had 1 when Trafford dropped the ball and they blew for a foul. Were desperate for him to break the record
You've already said that. You don't have to keep repeating yourself. Joseph is a striker - he's in the team to score goals. That said, we aren't a team that creates a lot of clear cut opportunities. I think most of our fans are fair minded enough to recognize that and will give Joseph a fair crack of the whip. If he keeps missing sitters (like Slater has done all season) then that's a different matter
