OK, Ernie is a hard act to follow, but, I’ll put my name in the hat to deputise. Burnley away, will be a tough gig, hopefully later tonight we’ll all be euphoric, with points in hand, and buzzing like the proverbial … Anyway, you all know the drill, select your top three in order, over to you….UTT.
Crooks Matazo Egan You heard it here first ! Okay for real Alzate - workrate and one of only a few who stood up to the challenge Pandur - no chance with either goal Jones - steady without being exceptional
Alzate Easily our best footballing player on the pitch Barry. Threat each time he got the ball, look forward to his full debut on Saturday Pander. Can’t be faulted for goals & a couple of good saves to keep it a respectable score we got a footballing lesson first half. We were not in the game. More competitive second half without a real goal scoring quality. This game is not the reason we are in the bottom three, but the coming games are getting critical to win, especially at home. Just hope Selles knows his best starting eleven soon.
Hard work this one. Gelhardt McLoughlin Joseph for his work rate alone. ... Very disappointing first half when Burnley were allowed to give us the run around. Matty Crooks looked as though he'd just come out of the pub and Altaze never touched the ball until just before half time when he got in the way of a Burnley attack. So probably one of the worst halves we've put in this season. The 1st goal was far, far too easy, when Coyle was left exposed, and gave the winger far too much space. Kamara's lack of enthusiasm to track back and defend for their second goal was appalling, he just didn't seem bothered, as he didn't when strolling casually back for the 1st one. We were lucky to go in only two nil down. Second half we pushed up higher and looked slightly better but Burnley won this one without getting a sweat on. As one sided a game as the free kick count which was about 13 to 3 in Burnley's favour. ...
Alzate ..... errr ..... a way behind .... Matazo Barry Could have been Gelhardt for 3rd maybe, or Pedro. As others have said, Pedro has to start on Saturday (not a sleight as such on Joseph, but he's currently a far better player, simple as), and Barry surely has to start too.
Alzate McLoughlin Joseph I'm sure not many will have Macca in the top 3, but I doubt anyone else we have could have done any better against a very good winger. He did win some tackles against him, and his distribution was streets ahead of any other defender.
Alzate - although I felt he held on to the ball too long at times and could have released quicker Matazo - made some mistakes and bad decisions but never stopped getting on the ball and trying to drive the team forward Gelhardt - struggling with a third, but he at least wanted the ball and retained it well. Probably a 5/10 performance but shows you were the rest were at. Can’t believe Pandur is getting votes. Saved a few shots that were going wide. Flapped horrendously at an easy cross which could easily have given a goal away.
Hard to pick 3 names out of that wreckage. Gelhardt put himself about a bit, and had a shot that had the keeper scrambling. Alzate was the most composed on the ball. Err... Jones wasn't bad, comparatively. So probably those 3.
Alzate- cool and composed and passed well , easily our beat player. Matazo - robust and energetic Gelhart - tried hard to be a pest and plenty of energy. not our night and poor when the goal beckoned. Burnley looked very good first half , slick quick passing created a few chances and 2 goals . Not the end of the world . Come on City
did not see the game. but if anyone is interested heres how Whoscored rated us Altzate 6.9 MCloughlin 6.6 Pedro 6.6 We had no one score 7 or above whereas Burnley had lots
