    Ashton gate 7:45pm Wednesday 12th Feb 2025

well we move onto the second home game in a matter of days.
The Swansea game was a disaster let’s hope the Stoke game does not become that.

Going to be an interesting game this because if Bristol City lose this second home game in a matter of days it really does show how serious it was not bringing a striker or two in the transfer window.

clearly Sunday showed how powderpuff we are up front and we could have played until midnight and not scored.

Tomorrow night I’m not going down I’m giving it a miss I was bloody freezing Sunday.
    To see that **** show.

Im going for a Stoke win 2-0 we just cannot score goals when clearly on top in games.

The best chance of a playoff spot in years and the club have not tried to grab a spot.

Makes me wonder why us fans bother.

I had this belief that we would lose 0-1 to Swansea who had a bad record prior to the match but my thoughts were spot on. Stoke City will prove just as difficult, not because they are a poor team, because we haven't found the door to success and these critical games are the ones we usually blow with impunity. As you said the importance of bringing in a capable striker in the January transfer window was critical and our management in their usual apathetic way just looked away so they thought we couldn't see them tittering down the dark halls of our home stadium. My brain is starting to work overtime and I have come up with the theory that Lansdown wants things to be exactly the way they are because he has given up his dream of Premiership Football at Ashton Gate, despite our needs and support over the years. Having to watch the pathetic attempts to show our goods to the customers has become a joke and I expect the banter of Thursday will be just the same as it has throughout many seasons - and the beatings will continue until morale improves. Sad load of rubbish for yet another season, ,but on a bright note there is always next time or the time after that, and so on and so on. Distasteful to say the least.

Paying 2 Million each for what Tinnion described as unfinished players in Mayulu and Sinclair seems to me to be the biggest damnation of his role at Bristol City. We all know that we live on a very restricted budget, as dictated by Lansdown in conjunction with his buddies down at the FFP lounge, and we can appreciate how we have to struggle within those set limits or face the music in one way or another. Admitting that you essentially blew the entire annual budget on unfinished players, and others that show up occasionally, would in my mind lead to instant dismissal at a lot of businesses. The time for change and an upping of the job requirements to include performance targets has to be implemented as soon as possible otherwise we risk falling off the radar and become an almost invisible blip vanishing up someone's backside. Business practices have to reasonable and achievable but this constant failure to succeed is mind numbing and anyone who has been involved in the disaster area we call "transfer moves" needs to be run out the back door. Brian was one of my heroes back in his day but I think it's time for him to excuse himself from the operations that include player recruitment. Surely it can't be that hard to find a person with a footballing career and knowledge of things to look for in future talent, but knowing us we will blow that as well, if it ever happens, just like our priceless crown jewels and transfer budgets.

The Championship has to be the hardest second tier football league in the world along with it's unpredictability each and every season. Bristol City are always predictably unpredictable and therein lies our problem as our struggles to make ground in a very competitive division continue ad nauseum over the long term. How on earth our fearless leader can expect us to carry on and ignore the parachute gap beggars belief and until such time as a decision is made to up the ante we will stay mired in mid-table? A potential drop to League One is on the cards if we continue to ignore the facts of our existence which are predominately dysfunctional to say the least and we have to wake up to the truth even if it hurts, and that is we are a poorly run team with an owner who makes bewildering decisions that show the lack of commitment to what he says in his statements through Tinnion I presume. Not good enough for me!

I cannot for the life of me see why he would start Armstrong when he basically has done nothing since his earlier starts.

Wells hasn’t exactly been on fire the last few matches. Maybe could have started Bell, but options are limited.

The ground is looking void of supporters so where are they - is it a freezing night or are they just not bothered on a mid-week game? A fairly competent first half by the lads and we have to avoid those areas when we constantly cross the ball on the edge of our penalty area and there have been a couple of near miscues due to indecisions and bad choices. The Mehmeti goal was a classic build-up and finished of very well by Anis but as far as Armstrong I am not sure what to say other than he could use his upper body strength in a way that helps him and his team mates. Stoke came on strongly in the last 10 minutes and we must be aware that they want the points as much as us and we have to be on guard if we want to come out on top. I wonder if 15 minutes of Armstrong and Wells up front could unlock more goals but I suspect Sinclair will leave at half-time as usual.
