Have seen 6'4" mentioned. He looked like he towered over Abdullahi when they were celebrating AAs second goal
I really like the way Geragusian is tenacious against the defenders. Caught their lads a few times and caused carnage.
Hope you aren’t one of the leave early brigade you must have missed the last goal ha ha it was 7-0 good post !
Not me Gov. Its a paste from the SAFC.COM site, no idea who writes these reports , but they often slightly contradictory, but 99% of the information is correct to be fair And the match reports are useful in sorting out who is who..
It's another jam-packed weekend across the Academy of Light with our Under-21s and Under-18s ready to return to league action. Here's everything you need to know. Under-18s Our Under-18s make the short trip to Rockcliffe on Saturday, visiting Middlesbrough in the Premier League North (11am kick-off). Fin Lynch’s side will look to make it back-to-back wins following last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Leeds United at the AoL. Three points could see the young Black Cats cement their place in fourth and move them within one point of third-placed Derby County. Saturday’s hosts sit ninth in the league with four wins, one draw and eight defeats in their first 13 league matches. Middlesbrough have won only one of their last five games in all competitions and drew 2-2 away at Wolves in the Premier League last time out. Rob Jones is in his first season in charge of Boro’s U18s after taking over from James Marwood in the summer. The former defender made over 400 career playing appearances, which included spells at Grimsby Town, Hibernian, Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster Rovers. The young Black Cats will look to complete a league double over Middlesbrough after a Jack Whittaker brace and strike from Finn Geragusian gave Lynch’s side a 3-0 win back in September. Under-21s Our Under-21s are back at home on Monday with a Premier League 2 fixture against Reading. Graeme Murty's side are currently five unbeaten in all competitions after the recent 7-0 victory over Huddersfield Town. The Lads have the opportunity to jump up to fifth, depending on the result Reading sit 20th in the league table with just one win in the last 12. That one victory did come just last week with a 3-1 triumph over Aston Villa. Adrian Akande, Tyler Sackey and Ashqar Ahmed on the scoresheet. Peter Scott takes on the role of U21 Lead Coach after Noel Hunt's appointment to the first team. Peter has spent over 25 years in the Reading Academy, working alongside Noel producing young talent in Berkshire. The two sides last met in last season's PL2 Play-Off semi-final. A dramatic late winner from Trey Ogunsuyi saw the young Black Cats progress to the final.
Middlesbrough U18s 2-2 Sunderland U18s Fin Lynch made two changes from the side that beat Leeds 3-0 last weekend, with Neild and Alex Lienard replacing Finn Geragusian and Tom Proctor. The young Black Cats saw the first real chance of the game, when Marcus Neill’s shot from a narrow angle clipped off the post. Neill continued to cause Middlesbrough problems, and after Bayley Hester’s dinked ball into the forward, his effort was beaten away by Oliver Lloyd. However, the hosts took the lead in the 25th minute when James’ cut-back found Acheampong, who fired into the roof of the net. Lynch’s side almost hit back with two headers in a matter of moments. Aaron Chungh’s header from close range was clawed away by Lloyd, before Neill’s chance was palmed over the bar. The woodwork twice denied the young Black Cats soon after, as Neild’s header came back off the post, before the follow-up also struck the left post. Middlesbrough doubled their lead on the hour mark, when Acheampong broke to the byline before squaring to James, who swept the ball past Ben Metcalf. Sunderland almost halved the deficit, but Archie Lightfoot’s header bounced back off the crossbar. Yet, with 20 minutes left to play, the Lads were given a lifeline, when substitute Barker’s left-footed drive nestled into the bottom corner. Chungh should have levelled for Lynch’s side as he was released in behind, but poked an effort wide of the left post. The hosts were reduced to ten men, when Chungh broke away and was pulled down just outside of the penalty area by Martin, who was sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. From the resulting free-kick, Neild curled a delightful effort into the top right corner to level. The Lads should have claimed all three points, when a goalmouth scramble led to efforts from Chungh, Neild and Barker being denied by Middlesbrough bodies on the line. In injury time, Chungh’s header looked to have sealed back-to-back wins; only for the Middlesbrough ‘keeper to hook his effort off the goal line. Lynch’s side return to league action next weekend, as they visit league-leaders Manchester City on Saturday (12:30pm kick-off). Sunderland U18s: Metcalf, Holcroft, Kindon ©, Parker, Lightfoot (Barker 62’), Neild, Lienard (Forsyth 82’), Chungh, Dinsdale (Proctor 62’), Neill (Bowman 69’), Hester Subs not used: Robertson
