I very much doubt that the dumb rednecks even know that México was a much bigger country in the early 19th century giving it so much claim to the gulf that calling it the Gulf of Mexico was a given. I bet a lot of them haven’t even considered why so many towns in the lower states have Spanish names. And I’m also surprised that Trump hasn’t anglicised the name of his Mar a Lago resort, but then even he must realise that it sounds better than Sea to Lake.
Boris now suggesting that Mar a Lago is the ideal.location for 1 million displaced Palestinians You know you must have hit rock bottom when Boris takes the pics out of you....
Have you guys seen this? President Musk, either high on Ket or maybe he is kinda thick, rambling in the oval office.
https://www.spiked-online.com/2025/02/11/the-assisted-dying-bill-must-be-put-out-of-its-misery/ Within the space of just a few years, however, Canada has effectively made assisted dying available to pretty much anyone who is struggling with an illness or a disability. Euthanasia is now the fifth-leading cause of death nationwide and it will likely rise even higher. Soon, people suffering from mental-health issues, such as anorexia, will be eligible for an assisted death. Assisted-dying laws have a tendency to turn into slippery slopes, as more and more people are made eligible for a state-sanctioned death. In Canada and the Netherlands, the availability of a state-assisted suicide has expanded well beyond the scope initially envisaged by lawmakers, smashing through any safeguards in the process. Indeed, in an especially sinister turn, the Dutch state is now granting those with mental-health issues the right to die. To date 39 people listed with ‘learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder’ have been euthanised.
Re-watched Blue Velvet t'other night. Can't get the idea out of my head that 'Frank' is Trump, but maybe not so mad.
I'm on the fence with assisted dying and really conflicted. I've had a few convos with Mrs No7 on this and she has always said if she is ill she wants to be able to end it. I am on the other side of the coin as an eternal optimist and the fact that i think life is the most precious thing on the planet so you need to preserve it for as long as you can. From a selfish point of view I wouldn't want her to leave me, even if she was in pain as it would mean I would lose my best friend. I also don't want to be given the decision to make to aid her. However, if she was in too much pain or even knew it was coming, surely that is her choice. There is so much complexity to this that I really don't know how I feel. My sister in law passed away a few years ago with bowel cancer and I know the end was really tough on her, my brother and my niece and nephew. Would it have been made easier if she could have ended it earlier? I really don't know. All I know is that one you are gone from this world, you are gone forever. So conflicted on this.
I am a strong believer that people who are diagnosed with life limiting conditions such as MND should have the right to end their life when they want to and on their terms. I understand people's reluctance to introduce assisted dying but if you cannot move, or go outside, or even talk, then what is the point? You're not living, just existing. MND is such a cruel and debilitating disease - why make people suffer beyond what they can cope with? And that question can be applied to any terminal illness. Surely it's better that people can choose to end their lives with dignity and can slip away peacefully surrounded by their family rather than potentially resorting to desperate measures like jumping in front of a train. It's a very difficult topic, but I think the choice should be there for people to make.
Looks like Trump has ended both wars within a month. Exactly as i predicted he would. Now that there is a sensible person in charge again, finally the world can focus on business instead of nonsense.
If Trump ends this to the satisfaction of Ukraine and Europe then it will be a surprise. He is Putin’a lapdog. Also, I note Os has not responded to any of the clarifications he was given to his posts!
It’s also worth remembering that, per head of population, Ukraine lost more lives in the Second World War than Russia did, but this is often forgotten as both were part of the USSR.
It won’t do Ukraine ANY favours . Ukraine to give up territory gained by Russia ( + A little bit more , ) And Ukraine not to join NATO .
The amount of soft power Trump and Musk are ceding to China and Russia right now, it's no great surprise that people like Putin are DELIGHTED to be chatting to him.
