What can you say No midfield and no support flor Doumbia he was left totally isolated, Giorgi did the usual apart from not passing or shooting, as for kayambe and Louza the worst both have played for us ever Keben looked good when he came on but was 4 goals too late International break so which unknown out of work manager will try to stop the rot
Not till the end of March... Some thought Louza was the best player - not saying much mind. We had no midfield like you say and agree lost the ball in so many dangerous situations and got caught out on the break as we were too slow. Felt sorry for Duombia up front as he did his best.
Some have pointed out whilst we had a tough game on Saturday they were able to rest players but not sure how much you can use that as an excuse ? The difference in fitness and sharpness certainly showed up and obviously we had not thing on the bench to change things .
It seems to me that the only player in our team who does not pass backwards/sideways all the time is our goalie! When we do get close to the oppositions penalty area hardly anyone puts a cross in usually trying to dribble/pass the ball into the penalty area where there is usually no one to pass to, if the attempt has not been snuffed out. So many times have we seen the ball passed back into our own half from the oppositions penalty area, so negative and certainly will not create a half chance. No one seems to do any incisive runs or passes to set up such a chance. I don't think replacing Tom will help change things, financial constraints (a good thing)/injuries dictate where we are in reality but an experienced mentor might help Tom and the team. Having said that we would not be where we are now if it were not for the Pozzo's to whom we should be grateful.
I am not convinced that Watford have the players to play in the style that Cleverley wants. They had 60% possession last evening, but created very little. Too much time is spent passing sideways and backwards in a slow build-up. It is not the first time this season that players have given away possession, directly leading to a goal for the opposition.
We needed to be at our best to have any chance. We weren't. Not even close. Leeds are by far the best team I've seen at the Vic all season, and last season too. No complaints from me. We voted with our feet after about 70 minutes, in good time for me to get a reasonably timed train home! A very welcome cup of tea when I got back.
