Come back Madsen, all is forgiven. Weird to me with Colback on the pitch he doesn’t have a go at least from the right or Saito who has taken a few in the past. Meh.
Maybe. Watched it a few times and can’t decide if I’m annoyed at him for not being stronger or I’m erring towards it being an obvious foul. Probably gets given in the 3rd minute rather than the 93rd for a home team.
I've watched it back a few times, and now I'm not so sure. I agree Cook should've been stronger. It's a shame that after a defence masterclass 3 or 4 of our players all made mistakes on that final set piece.
Frey should’ve buried the ball and their keeper into the back of the net. What a goal it would’ve been too
Bottom line is that we had numerous corners and did nothing with them, they had one at the end and buried it.
For what it's worth. https://www.footballinsider247.com/...thomas-coventry-winner-v-qpr-wrongly-allowed/
This had 0-0 written all over it and that would have been a fair result. I think we set up for a point from the start so it was disappointing not to get one. Quite a low quality game and one that will struggle to be remembered.
I’m not sure we did. First ten minutes or so we were high up the pitch and on top. The disappointing thing for me was the subs didn’t kick us on to win or at least secure a point against an, in theory, wearier team. The logic was sound enough and they were probably more or less the subs I’d have made other than keeping Saito on and hooking Chair instead but neither Lloyd nor the Spurs boy really got a kick and we gave up huge space in midfield to Grimes with Varane and Field pretty much in the defence. A shame but a long way to go. I think he picked the XI he did knowing we need wins now to have a chance once March is done. Win on Friday and we’re dreaming again but realistically the unlikely dream is dead without two wins from these next two considering what comes after. See you at Boro
We had a Saturday game there when they were going quite well - it might have been towards the end of the Beale ‘reign’ but they all kind of blend into one- and it was a very good atmosphere especially by generic bowl megadome standards. Tough time of year in a not particularly affluent city but I think most people are put off by just how utterly inaccessible the place is. Like Reading they’ve built a stadium in the middle of nowhere and made it an absolute ballache to get to and from.
Looks like we might be turning into a proper mid table team - win a couple, lose a couple, draw one- rather than the nuts version of not winning for months then not losing for six weeks which ends up in the same place.
I thought that after the initial 10 or so minutes we really ran out of ideas of how to break down a Coventry team that played a very high back line I wanted us to move the ball more quickly but time after time our front players had to check their runs as the quick pass never came Paal needs to be fined a week's pay for every crap corner from now on. How can a professional footballer not deliver a decent corner? Coventry's corners were infinitely better I would've taken off both Chair and Smyth earlier in the 2nd half. Chair was ineffective and Smyth looked knackered and lacked concentration Really need a result against Derby now
