Afternoon to all Scousers and wannabes. Thought as we haven’t had a team this good for ever and we don’t get to too many Finals it might be interesting to see what a joint team would look like.

For me, we have the best striker in the World at the minute, namely Isak. You have a World class player in Salah. Tonali has the prospects to be World Class but possibly isn’t there just yet.

I don’t pretend to be an expert on your team but it does confuse me in that your current team whilst obviously very good and the best team in the League this season, doesn’t seem to be on a player for player basis as good as teams you’ve had in recent years. Perhaps, a case of the team exceeding the qualities of the individuals.

    So team wise.

    Alisson

    Liveramento VVD Konate/Botman Hall

    MacAllister Tonali Bruno

    Salah. Isak. Gordon

Maybe a touch of black and white glasses but would be interested in your views on joint team. Also are your players as opposed to team as good as ones in years gone by?

In any event I obviously would love it if we lift the Cup so if you could just drop the hint to those in charge at your end it would be appreciated.

    <cheers>

Only problem is TAA is not a full back but he’s also not a midfielder.

Also Tonali walks into the team, no real debate. Just behind him comes Bruno.

Gakpo, for me, not in the same class as Gordon but I understand that will be hard for you to admit given he’s an ex blue.

    Proof is in the pudding.

Your fullback picks are delusional. I'd have all 4 of our FB's over yours

That has the logic of your team cannot be improved because you’re top which we both know isn’t true.

Never said that, but you asked who would I pick. I would pick the team that is currently top of the league. Hints at something doesn't it.

The fact you picked 7 Newcastle players when you are 5 places below, that's delusional. 7 players is the majority of the team, that might make sense if your were above us in the league.

I admitted to black and white glasses. <laugh>

But to pick 10 Liverpool players including Grav, Slobbers and Gakpo doesn’t enhance your neutrality either.

You are having a large mate if you think tonali and guimares walk into any team. You are confusing players who are better than what you used to have with actual class.

When they are bothered they are good but they are not bothered enough consistently enough.

None of your mids play the same role as Grav or Szobo, ergo Grav and Szobo are better fit for those positions
And MacAllister is probably the best CM in the league, so he beats your two out.

I don't like Gordon as a player (nothing to do with Everton), he's a dirty cheat that falls over.

Also I picked 10 as a wind up as yours was clearly a wind up as well

It's quite simple. None of your lot except isak are good enough.

That's not to say they are not good but I'd not pick Gordon over gakpo on current form and you've already pointed out your two cms who I would also not pick over the course of the way things have gone over two seasons.

Would your players back a combined 16 ask be on the bench over players like nunez, Jones etc? Absolutely.

Would thet be in the 11. No.

Fair. I'd send any of that 4 on sooner than any of our bench options.

While we need an lb option it's too soon to be calling out Newcastle options.

In the end we topped the cl table and are currently top of the prem so why wouldn't we back the plauers who got us there.

If trying to be super super unbiased the below are nailed on

    Ali
    X Konate Vvd X
    Grav Mac X
    Salah Isak Gakpo

You can make arguments for the other 3 roles.

Rb despite criticism TAA gets he’s just so good on the ball at taking it under pressure and finding passes. If you want a solid defender and don’t want your rb to progress then surely Bradley or Livramento a toss up.

left back hall seems like might be decent in future but yet to see anything from him. Decent delivery out wide but as a defender, meh. Robertson not been at best this year but still a solid option and on his day still better then hall.

Szobo is a bit underrated. This year he’s been a lot better. Needs to up his goals/assists but his work rate and ability on the ball is huge for us. You can make an arguement to put any of the Newcastle 3 in there, however only in a 433. As a 10, szobo is far superior to all 3 of them.

I would definitely agree with the consensus, only Isak would make our 11.

Conor Bradley would be over Livramento as well as TAA.

Isak aside, I think the areas where Newcastle are strongest, e.g. midfield, CB, are also areas where we are strong, while in the areas where we're possibly a bit weaker, e.g. LB, Newcastle's players aren't a clear improvement either. The players you mention would all improve our squad and you'd be happy to see them rotated in, but it's difficult to maintain that they'd improve our first 11.

I think Gakpo and Gordon bring different things to the table and it would obviously depend on tactics and team you're playing. I can see a case for either one based on the game.

I'd probably pick Gakpo most of the time, but I see value in Gordon, and I think he would have more goals if he were in our team (obviously no knocking Newcastle, but we do have a better team to support him in general).

    Isak a no brainer though.
