Shows how little depth we really have. Nothing beyond the 1st team squad. Some of the youngsters need to learn fast if they want to make it as PL footballers.
We haven't even the sense to keep high and wide and are slinging it long from the middle. like the team at the bottom the championship. Elliott has been tragic today. He's been moved around as a senior player rather than being taken off The passing been really poor today. Some of it would be considered non league from Elliott today never.mind championship. Chiesa as I said he can't actually move or accelerate in any way. As a winger for a top 4 side in England that's career ending most of the time. That last few moment was typical. Trying to walk past a guy when he could get a corner. Hit the first man or balloon it miles over the end line.
We’ll, had enough chances in the end but wasn’t to be. Nice for Plymouth. Hopefully get decent pay day in the next round. Onto the bigger game mid week now
That was over the bar anyway. Kelleher actually got it on target showing the senior players how to do it. Happy for Plymouth. They gave their all there. We've learned who won't be getting minutes unless absolutely no other option as well. Roll on Everton.
Made a mistake when Gomez had to go off. Should have been a leader on the bench just in case to control the kids.
Congratulations Plymouth, you came with a game plan and got a deserved victory. Good luck with the rest of the competition As for us, two silver linings.... 1) less games to play 2) no more quad talk
Anyway I'd rather we lose these cup games, than lose the league games. Fact is Plymouth beat our kids and some very unmotivated seniors
Reality check for every player on the pitch today. Complete lack of quality, despite the internationals on the pitch. Very poor from the bits that I saw.
In the grand scheme of things I think the next few games will prove that Slot was right to pick the team that he did, but I always felt that this line up may come unstuck today. We deserved nothing. Plymouth were organised and today's line up didn't have the quality to execute the kind of creativity that allows us to break down low blocks. Some players did underperform as well - one for me that hasn't been mentioned was Tsimikas. His delivery was poor more often than not. It's an embarrassing defeat but not one I will lose too much sleep over if we can get the job done elsewhere
Played like a scratch team, a collection of individuals rather than a coherent group. Poor from the experienced players who I'd have expected to be leaders in that set-up - Elliott, Jota, Diaz etc didn't influence the game at all (apart from the handball )
Slot at fault should have had more first team players on the bench just in case. When you go one down and all you can do is bring on more kids you are in trouble. Why wasn't Jones brought on!
He was poor, but at least he was trying - some others were anonymous. It's just another case of wholesale changes being a bad idea. It hardly ever works, and the only point in doing it is if you're prepared to sacrifice the competition in order to save players for elsewhere. In the light of our upcoming fixtures I'm sure that was the reasoning.
Not arsed about being out of the FA Cup. Really, really disappointed with how piss poor our second string played today though. No physical fight, no quality. I can't think of one player on our side except, perhaps Kelleher, you could say "Well they're getting physically outplayed, but you can see he's premiership quality". Not one. I thought Elliott could shine today and show some leadership, but he was pants. And all those jibes from Arsenal fans about how our season would be over if we lost one of senior players... they're not too wrong on today's showing, are they? Shockingly bad.
