I'm not even sure how it's going to be possible to pick 3 from that absolute shocker. Just when we think they can't sink any lower they pull of this absolute masterclass! The first one for me is a simple choice. 1. Andy Smith- He looks decent, but I'm sure we will drain that out of him in the coming weeks. He looks like a defender of quality however I'm not sure why we are playing him at right back. 2. Glenn Morris- I'm not even sure picking a keeper after conceding three is fair, however it was such a poor performance I just needed to find someone to pick. 3. The away fans- Because I truly cannot pick another player. I cannot believe 227 hardy souls travelled all that way. I did consider it myself as I'm now based in the north (also considered Carlisle but I think I'll save my money instead) but thankfully I decided to just watch it at home! Fair play to so many turning up when we just produce a complete carbon copy of the same performance week in week out! I used to be someone who would always find a positive in anything when it come to Gillingham however that side has seriously been burnt away. I cannot even find a positive in the last few months. The decisions by the manager today are simply strange. The new lads on the bench yet same old players starting who have been shocking week in week out. Jayden Clarke left at home ? He was seen at Roko gym this afternoon! He should be starting easily over this bunch. Continuously starting Nevitt when his confidence has clearly gone. 4 centre backs at the back. Saying you will play the kids then loaning Webster out (even he scored today but sadly in the wrong net). Where will the odd decisions stop. Yet again the formation is completely wrong. Aginbone looked really poor today which is a real shame as he looked exciting in the first game. Also went off with a trademark Gillingham injury. Where do I even end with the negatives ? I'm seriously worried! Today is the first time I can truly say I started looking down and thank god Carlisle and Morecambe are so bad too otherwise we would be right on the brink of the relegation zone.
I haven't seen the game, nor any highlights and I hadn't dared to look on Twitter after seeing the result. I do have a question though, I looked the BBC line ups and it showed Agbinone on the right, why? He played on the left previously and was pairing up well with Ogie and Gbode. In answer to your question Hoadie, like you I wonder why he was left out the squad.
1. Obviously 227 joint top candidates. 2. I'm giving it to Coleman ((( even if he has a massive part to play in what's going wrong !!! ))) ...... so - why did I vote for him ? - because of his after-match interview... He was brutally scathing of the players.... It was interesting to hear that what goes on in training isn't being applied on matchday - I await a representative from the squad (( perhaps a the Captain )), to refute the allegation - but - in fairness to the players, it is Coleman's responsibility to vent his spleen during the 90+ minutes, if the players are not performing to the script. I watched Orient v Man City in the FA Cup ... what a brilliant effort by Orient (( and Charlie Kelman ran himself into the ground. )) - THAT is the 100% commitment I expect. On Tuesday, we visit L2 leaders, Walsall... I will be visiting my older son in his new house ( on his birthday. )... He's asked me if I really want to watch the Gills game -- when there's Man City v Real Madrid in the CL ... I told him I couldn't care less about the Gills game - and actually would prefer to see Orient v Mansfield on the same night......... The lucky birthday boy is on a long weekend in Spain - tomorrow he's going to see Barcelona v Seville.... next Saturday - back to crap.
Gillingham, the club that can turn winners into losers at the flick of a switch.........Enough is enough.
Yes Agbinone started on the right and Nevitt on the left. It's decisions like that which are very odd as it left Gbode up front of his own. I know he was trying something different but Nevitt out wide is an even worse idea. I think Agbinone is much better on the left but I doubt we will be seeing him next week due to the injury! Charlie Kelman seems like someone who has massively improved from his time with us because he looked well out of his depth when he was playing for us.
