Great win, big boost to team morale, and lets take this forward.

Only negative is Sammi's injury again.

Decent performance. Shows to me the difference between the Championship and PL a very decent Cov side outclassed by our B Team.

Big shame about Szmodics, didn't do alot on the ball but both his and Hirsts movement was outstanding. Hirst doesn't have the same quality on the ball as Delap but his movement off the ball and press are far better than Delap and it creates space for our other attacking players to do the damage.

When Broadhead came on he showed his class again with some superb link play

Palmer looked very solid made some very good saves and communicated well with his defence. Woolfenden and Burgess looked okay.

I thought Townsend showed endeavor but lacked quality, probably his worst performance in a town shirt.

Clarke showed some real quality in moments but perhaps being a bit harsh could get involved more.

I thought we looked weak defensively down the flanks particularly our right hand side, I don't think the performance from Godfrey will cause Tuanzebe any concerns.

Philogene apart from the goals did nothing

But the biggest disappointments for me were Taylor and Phillips who I both thought put in poor performances. It really highlighted to me why this was an area we should have strengthen in the window but also why Morsy is still getting in the team, even in his poorer games he impacts the game more than Phillips did today. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go to the US or Saudi in the summer, his career looks finished, he couldn't even look like a competent player against a championship midfield.

Spot on,Coventry reminded me a bit of us this Season, not outclassed but badly punished for every tiny mistake.Further proof we've got plenty of bodies that are too good for the Championship but not up to PL standard.

Yeah definitely. We weren't bothered about dominating but we're relatively comfortable then just showed our quality. Just highlights the difference between a decent Champ team and a PL team

    The Gaffers take.

    We won a game!
Important for club, players and fans morale.
The gulf between the Prem and Championship.
Their players were similar in size and build, not Prem giants.
Hirst really enjoying himself, wreathed in smiles and causing all sorts of problems.
Would love to see him & Delap up front together, but we wont.
    Palmer gave an assured performance.
Defense was weak at times, Godfrey shows why we missed Tuanzebe.
Clarke given acres of space and will thrive if we do go back down. Good to see his confidence and playing for fun.
Broady comes on for delightful cameo.

Lampard goes around Town players and greets them all.

Lampard comments post match, without the goals it would have been a different outcome!!

Indeed Gaffer something I noticed the difference in size of players between the Championship and PL. Maybe that's why Clarke thrived

That was a welcome break from the tension of the league for all concerned.

Palmer must shortly go straight into the XI.

The only stress from yesterday's game came from the two, obviously,Coventry supporting commentators who at the start of the game were going on about how we were there for the taking, current form, etc, etc…that all aged well!

Apart from their goal where no one bothered to mark up at a corner Cov were poor, the good points for us were that Palmer looked secure, a fit again Hirst terrorised their defence, in fact all our reserves played well with only Phillips looking ineffective and it really seems that his loan with us has not worked out.
A big thankyou to the 5000 Townies who made a hell of a noise virtually all match it was a pleasure to be with you.

Finally got to watch the game.

Decent match, although a bit slow at times, it'll do us a world of good to get a resounding win. Coventry were good at times, but too passive for large spells.

Most of the good stuff has already been mentioned in previous posts, and it seems like most of us saw the game the same way. Palmer played well, I just naturally had confidence in him as the match wore on, I guess that's a good sign.

Clarke looked confident, like he knew he could rip it up at this level, maybe he's still slightly daunted by the prem, but this will give him a boost. Jaden on the other hand looked disinterested at times, the real strong press wasn't there and overall his effort levels lacked, but, he does come alive when he's actually got the ball and some space to attack. Some selfish decisions looking for that first goal and now he's got it, I hope he'll settle down and press on.

Townsend had a chance to snatch the shirt from Leif but didn't do it with that performance. Phillips was poor throughout. Taylor made some lovely defense splitting passes and with vision like that, should be sharing the central 10 spot with Broady if Szmodics is out again, I think he's wasted (and not suited) in the double pivot.

Hirst was awesome, did the running in behind that Delap doesn't do enough of. Liam comes short a lot, Hirst comes short too, but makes far more channel runs to create space. I know me and ptc are going on about that all the time, but it is so plain to see when watching how effective those runs are to creating better chances on goal.

The defense looked pretty solid. Woolf and Burg worked well together, we did look a little suspect in both full back areas though. Neither player put in a display that will worry Axel or Davis.

Overall, it wasn't exactly a scintillating match but we got the job done with minimal fuss. A few players will get some confidence from their performances that will hopefully help us in the league fixtures to come.
