Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Ashton Gate Date - 9 February 2025 Kick off -12pm Following yet another disappointing performance at home to Coventry, next up for Luke Williams’ Swansea squad is a very tricky looking trip to Ashton Gate to play Bristol City. Last Saturday, Brandon Thomas-Asante scored an outstanding long-range goal as Coventry City eased to victory over the struggling Swans. Ellis Simms' hooked finish gave Coventry an early lead as the Swans struggled to adapt to life after Matt Grimes, their captain and midfield fulcrum who signed for the Sky Blues on Friday. Thomas-Asante's moment of brilliance doubled the lead before half-time, the striker punishing a Franco error in midfield with a glorious first-time shot from around 40 yards which dipped just under the crossbar and into the net. Victory continues Coventry's upturn under former Swan Frank Lampard, with the Sky Blues now within sight of the play-off places after four successive Championship wins. For the Swans, by contrast, these are worrying times. Luke Williams' beleaguered side have now taken only one point from six league games in 2025. That dreadful run has seen the Swans slide down the table to 17th place. Whilst the Swans were losing to Coventry, Mark Sykes' classy finish secured nine-man Bristol City an unlikely point against his former club Oxford United. Sykes curled a first-time shot into the top corner from Max Bird's 65th-minute free-kick to cancel out Greg Leigh's opener for the home side just six minutes earlier. City were reduced to 10 players when midfielder Joe Williams was shown a straight red card for upending Will Vaulks just after the half-hour mark. Defender Ross McCrorie followed late on after receiving his second booking, but Liam Manning's side held on as the Robins' ex-Oxford boss picked up a draw on his return to the Kassam Stadium. The Swans have played the Robins on 80 previous occasions, winning 24, drawing 24 and losing 32. In the corresponding fixture last season the Swans lost 0-1: Turning to Sunday, I think that the Swans’ miserable run will continue and that we will lose 3-1. Hope I’m wrong
2-0 to Brizzle. Interesting to see that Matt Grimes has gone from an ever-present with the Swans to not even being in the Coventry squad today (unless he's injured or suspended ?)
Vigouroux to a defender, back to Vigouroux, Vigouroux launches long ball, lose possession. Repeat ad nauseam.
