After reading this I'm not going to bother with the highlights. What amazes me is that their keeper, who apparently had a blinder, isn't their first choice. It looks like they only made a few changes, one of which was the goalscorer. He must have been injured because he hasn't featured recently. I've read that we should have beaten them even though we made wholesale changes. I most definitely don't agree. They're an in form Championship side so were always going be be a tough test. Farke says he had to rest players for Tuesday. He's not interested in the Cup. I've said before, winning is a good habit so I hope this defeat doesn't affect us on Tuesday. It had to be fkn Millwall though ffs.
you keep wondering how often the blunts can get outplayed and win. The answer seems to be very often. Be a travesty if they get promoted.
Quite underwhelming, but hardly surprising the teams play, lacked fluidity. Don’t think you can draw too many conclusions on the quality of our normal subs bench, based on their performance today, having said that, Joseph was shocking. Was more interested on what was happening at the Stadium of Light and Bramall Lane. Happy with the difference in points between us and 3rd/4th place, at the moment. If we get 7 points from next 4 games, I’ll be happy, but it’d be great if we take points off both Sunderland and Sheff Utd. 9 or 10 points off 4 top half teams would be immense. MOT
Watch most of the game and Pompey deserved something out of that. wasn't impressed with the Blunts at all. but they somehow find a way but surely their luck has to even out.
people say that, but year after year there are examples where it just doesn’t happen. Burnley have been spawny too. Just checked the expected points table we ‘should’ have 18-19 points more than both of them. And we actually have about as many points as we should have. That’s effectively means they’ve (net) won 9 games they should have drawn. For it to even up they’d have to be the best team in all of their remaining matches and somehow lose more than half of them. Neither of which will happen.
After years of seeing cup ties I am now convinced we should of fielded our usual strong first team and when we were 2-0 up at half time take off the key players and I'm convinced we would of won 2-0 not lost it 0-2 people might say we could've got injuries in 1st half but I say in response we could get injuries against watford so it makes no difference , now I'm fearing we will go on a bad run , I hope I'm wrong but I haveseen it too many times with leeds , , people say concentrate on the league , but players will get complacent waiting for a match to come up.
They are an effective team, consistent so it can’t be luck, however we are still above them. Disappointing cup result but let’s be honest, Millwall still have the same chance as us of winning this, zero, so we move on.
By Tuesday nobody will even remember this result. Cop to hell on. The cup means nothing, irrelevant far less than internationals. And for anyone who went along and paid your twenty quid, fair play to you but don’t go whining and moaning afterwards that we fielded a weakened team. We expected it and Farke would have been an idiot not to. Now back to the real footies and to hell with that cup crap
Leeds and Coventry out in terrible fashion. Did the clubs have any say in playing it on Wednesday rather than Tuesday or is it simply the league that decides?
