Just saw this. https://www.watfordfc.com/news/2025/february/07/supporters-board-progress-report/ Maybe be a way of fans being able to ask the board /club questions?
TC going a full 180 when he talks about the transfer window here: And he kind of disses those who left.
U21 side to play Colchester tonight. Supposedly a 7:00pm kick off but they don't appear to have started yet.
Who is it ?! Seen this comment on WFC forums : “Hello, am new to this forum. Have been a Watford fan for a long long time, travel home and away whenever possible and am fed up of how the club is being run. Just a thought for a protest, did read online about a protest Charlton fans did a number of years ago where theystaged a fake funeral en route to their ground once. The fans also caused peaceful disruptions inside the ground by blowing whistles which caused breaks in play as it was distracting the players. Wonder if we could try something like that, if fans are questioned and stopped taking whistles into the ground can certainly stage a fake funeral outside it. Could that work” And how have Charlton done since those protests? Still in League one lurching from crisis to crisis with several takeovers over the years
As ideas go, those would have to be two of the stupidest! Ranking right up there with shine your mobile phone torch light on Gino at 2:00pm in the afternoon in broad daylight.
And that was the full time score - even though a Colchester player was red carded in the second half.
A team like Charlton were in a bad way with the owner refusing to sell the club and making threats to fans I think. All we have done is not brought the number of player people hoped for. - tbh I think another striker would have been ideal and maybe midfield whilst we have injuries but some were calling for 6/7! Even seen people criticize Tom for not being annoyed/angry (maybe he is inside?) with the board in public. Lets not get too OTT about it all. I mean no guarantee another owner comes in and we buy loads of players and they all turn out to be wonderful meaning we get promoted. As I say look at Charlton.
When the Pozzos took over we were on our knees, no squad to speak off and in real danger of going out of business, a few loanees from Udinese and we nearly got promotion, two years later we did and until the last couple of years we were emulating the best GT years I can remember the years between Ken Furphy and GT when on a reasonably warm dry day you could sit down on the Vicarage Road end watching dire 4th division football because we had only four thousand die hard fans at the game The glory hunters spouting off do not even know they are born in football terms
Was Connor Wickham https://x.com/androofrench/status/1887995011897377039 Actually been a half decent player in his time. Trouble is also very injury prone hence not having a club at 31!
Yes...well put..........I remember Halifax, York and other places away......... and we had no second or third choice players and no real chance of getting any in.......
Not sure what you mean by "no squad to speak off". We had finished 11th in the Championship under Dyche and Zola's problem was that the squad was far too big when the loan players from Udinese arrived. Watford were "in real danger of going out of business". The problem was that Laurence Bassini had borrowed money from Watford and "the £1.5 million Bassini owed for 'cash advances' was unlikely to be repaid." (Watford Observer, 2012). Bassini had "told neither the league nor the other members of the Watford board about his secret forward financing arrangements". He was "found guilty of misconduct and dishonesty over financial dealings on behalf of the club and banned from being involved in a position of authority with any Football League club for three years" by an independent disciplinary commission. (the Guardian, 2012)
Me too from the Furphy time ,and suppose have to admit prior to him too. What a sight he was racing downfield, despite being a 'defender' in his short shorts, sometimes remembering to take the ball with him dont think he was quite Watfords best ever player.Football wasnt so serious then ,therefore more fun. The Club do give the impression of going nowhere at present ,maybe not the most attractive for players to join.None of us can really know the exact financial situation there, but if things are supposed to be tight and theres any accuracy re Mr Duxbury being paid close to a Million a year ..not ridiculous ? Rarely gets a mention on here but some apparent experts prefer to concentrate on a regular slating of Referees, handy scapegoats when the teams struggling and Refs having the nerve to be Human Beings subject to making a mistake which none of us would ever do in the workplace .Rarely a mention though when the team get a debatable decision in THEIR favour ,oops sorry ihat just doesnt happen does it. Highlight perhaps was the '1-0 to the referee' contribution last week. Got to wish Tom C well as thanks for his considerable contribution to the club for so long.Having seen him speak get the impression theres a good chance he'll be a success in the future somewhere but it must be debatable how much of a free hand he has at the Vicarage. Hope I'll still be able to feel as complimentary around 2 15 today !!
No one has mentioned the referee in the Sunderland game. I thought that he was very good and made hardly any errors. The officials did give a goal kick to Sunderland when Andrew's shot was deflected off one of their players and it should have been a corner to Watford. Abankwah could have conceded a penalty when he was holding Isidor with both hands and Isidor put an overhead kick over the bar, but most referees seem to ignore holding. Otherwise, the referee looked in full control of the game, was consistent in his decision making and was barely noticeable. Robert Jones normally referees in the Premier League, but I think that he was demoted to the Championship this week because he ignored a VAR recommendation when he looked at the screen in his last Premier League game. I wish that all the referees in the Championship were as good as him.
