There's a lot of inappropriateness in daytime tv, and it's long overdue being called out. Much like the Jeremy Kyle programs were. I don't watch none of the shhite but when I do see it in passing, I often think there's probably some mum and dads watching daytime tv in front of their toddler, do these programs not realise what time of day it is. Whatever happened to the 9pm watershed, is this more failings of OFCOM. There was one clip I saw where you had Gino, that other guy Schofield (grooming allegations) along with Willoughby giggling away, nothing was said outright but you could hear where it was going - the problem is with that it says it's ok and then where is the line. Much like a lot of ads now during daytime tv, do we really need to be discussing them at lunch and teatime. Even news channels are starting to show more and more horrific stuff. It's like all the boundaries have been shifted. The programs This Morning and Good Morning Britain were in the top 10 moments, most complained about programs in 2024, so it's not like they don't know a problem exists, Good Morning Britain appeared on the list 3 times in that top 10. I do wonder when it became acceptable to show dead bodies spewn allover streets etc, when we see news clips from war zones, all dignity for folk as gone out of the window
We had a serial murderer terrorising women in Yorkshire and incompetent police failed to catch him even though they interviewed him twice...an they referred to one victim as "an innocent victim" cos she weren't a prostitute. We had NF ****s terrorising communities. We had thousands of male football hooligans attacking and stabbing / slahing not only each other but people who were nothing to do with violence and police who beat the **** out of any football fan for **** all reason. It was legal for men to rape their wives in Britain. Being gay under the age of 21 was illegal and teachers could not tell pupils of any age that being gay was normal or gay people should have the same rights as straight people due the section 28. Police would openly beat the **** out of anyone they wanted and openly fit people up for crimes they knew they were innocent of. Powerful and famous people in show business were raping and assaulting children and teenagers and it was a known thing but it was hushed up and some were given royal honours. Judges used to openly said women asked to be raped cos of how they dressed. It was seen as normal that 20 plus year old blokes had girlfriends still at school. Gay people weren't allowed to marry. You couldn't do **** all on a Sunday because of rules dictated by religion. There were terrorist attacks from Christian groups in UK. There were regular hijackings and a terrorist attack on the Olympics. Women were deliberately paid less than men. Ahhhh...the good old days
You pretty much said the same as me. Although can we have the Sundays back, they use to be so peaceful. I always remember when I was really young, this old lady in my street use to give me some money for sweets if I went and posted her letter for her at the post office, that was always the specific instruction it had to go to the post office, I think them days they use to have sorting offices. I think it was generally early afternoon, and I could walk all the way there and back without seeing a car, and I had to cross what would be deemed a busy main road to get to the sweet shop...but the road had no traffic. It was lovely...and I ate my sweets on the way back home lol - I can't remember how much money she gave me but it was always just enough to buy a qtr of something....the days when shops had to weigh sweets, out of the big jars.
oh can i add disabled people were regularly separated in schooling hence the hundreds if not thousands of "special" schools. we had an ongoing war in a part of the UK which also reached to England Discrimination was legal The food was pretty grim
I hope it wasn't the green cross code, because one Saturday I got runover by a car. Never forget that, my head hit the ground so hard...probably explains alot.

Yeah it made me think of them as well, I did collect them even in my latter years because eventually they tied them in with Argos, so you could purchase stuff out of the catelogue....which was better than the endless plates and cups you use to get from petrol stations.
I remember once just for a joke I posted a holiday post card with a green shield stamp on it to one of my neighbours The Post Office made him pay excess postage on it for it to be posted
I remember us getting two things from the Green Shield shop on Oldam st, an iron for me mam and a hair dryer for me two big sisters.
