Just stayed at Yamba Big 4 Caravan Park, came across this white / albino kangaroo, rare as hens teeth, apparently.

Thanks mate, it was fine. It's not that big a deal really, is it? My latest one was done by a rather lovely mid-thirties woman. She pulled on the blue gloves and said, 'OK, I'm just going to insert my finger first'.

    Not so bad at all.

I turn 72 this year. My older brother in Melbourne has been bugging me for 10 years to schedule a Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy. He had the Colon done and non cancerous polyps were identified and removed. However I have talked to two individuals who had the procedure and they ended up with perforated colons where they previously had no issues, so I am somewhat leary to proceed with this rather "invasive" procedure, ditto for Gastroscopy (which I assume is same as Endoscopy). Recently a Vietnamese lady doctor podiatrist who he ad last practised (practiced!) in Brisbane (has Oz accent and last name McKay!) identified a "cancerous lesion" on the se of my right foot and urged me to see the one and only Dermatologist here for which I required a real Dr. referral, so I attended a nearby daytime Health Clinic here and saw an excellent young Dr. Parker (Nosy!) who announce to me, " I'm not a podiatrist, but I know a bit about feet and that is scar tissue from an old plantar wart", then added "the nurse took your Blood Sugar a NB and it was 15.5 so I have to put you on Diabetes medication (Metformin?)and would you like to be on a "trial" of Ozympic", both drugs I am now on for last 3 months plus also now have a blood sugar measuring kit (finger prick), all covered (pay $15 max per prescription) under my Govt Retirees Blue Cross Medical Plan (Health/Dental/Travel) @ $250/mth premium. I took the visit opportunity to ask Dr. Parker about my brother's medical procedure urgings of 10 years now and he asked me, "do you issues going to bathroom, blood on stool, constipation", I replied, "no" plus I am part of Atlantic Path, a long term cancer study where each year, after an intensive initial medical that included bail clippings, I receive a package on the mail and get to "poop on a wooden stick" and submit. So at this tIme he told me, you do not require a Colonoscopy. Ditto approach for Gastroscopy, do you have issues swallowing, regurgitating food etc, again a "no" from me. Like many others here in NB my partner and I lost our Dr's so have to go to these Health Clinics, this one located just 5 mins away in a shopping plaza and if you are there at 6:30am when doors open you can be #1 in line to see a nurse, then triaged for a Dr. consult. Now if your medical condition is low on the totem pole you could end up spending a good part of the day there, but Lawton's Pharmacy is just across from the clinic for prescription filling, or snacks etc. So I asked Dr. Parker if he had any openings for new patients and he promptly said, "no", I told him, "I'm fairly healthy, so low maintendance", to which he responded, "you're not now"! I also take meds for high blood pressure, chlosterol and Celebrex for joint stiffness (that unfortunately has the side effect of raising BP, but I feel so good on it when every day at 8:00am I swim my 40 laps x 25m (1km) 8 front/2 back x 4. Now I can do this in around 33 min, my partner in 20 mins (trained solo synchronized swimmer from age 10 - 16, with 2 hr morning & evening practices) Living in Halifax, her parents refused to take her to the Centennial Pool at 5:30am, so she figured out at age of 10 how to take the bus to a rather rough area of town called, "the battle zone". At age just turned 25 she attended Canada Winter Games in Saskatoon in 1971 representing Atlantic Canada as Atlantic Champion in solo synchronized swimming. She could not do group or duet routines just choreographed her own music routines.

Hi Kilburn, for want of a better word, go with your gut feeling in regards to the procedures.
As mentioned, at nearly 64, l’ve had a few done now and felt absolutely fine in every way.
I’m on cholesterol tablets ( low dose ) blood pressure, had every conceivable needle for rheumatoid, osteo & psoriatic arthritis. They’d make you bleed internally, hair fall out….I could write a book on everything but l won’t bore you.
My point is, do what you feel is right for you, you know your body best.

All the best to you, mate.
