Obviously the proof will be in the pudding, but I really think is a very good appointment. Welcome Johannes!
Seems like a good appointment on the surface. Hopefully he’s here longer than a few months like most of SR’s appointments
Is what it is, I'd rather he was focused solely on Saints rather than being the group technical director. Best of luck to him, he'll need it.
No idea who he is or what a Group Technical Director is, but I’m very excited about this. Definitely a good thing until proven otherwise
I can understand the reservations over the word "group" in his title. It's not ideal. But he says that he's excited to start working at "Southampton" not "Sports Republic". So until proven otherwise, I'm inclined to look at this as an appointment for the club. Fingers crossed that he's good. I have no idea.
I thought SR had messed everything up and done the paperwork wrong? Hopefully very good news though for the club, a change of direction and someone with some football chops directing things. Excellent. Now don’t cock it up.
On the other hand, SR probably have to say that. They've almost certainly changed his official role to some extent to get around the work permit stuff. They can't exactly do that and then say publicly "We've told immigration he's working for the group as a whole but he's really just working for Southampton." EDIT: I'm not 100% sure I'm looking at the right account but I can't see a similar announcement on what I think is Goztepe's Twitter account.
Not hoping for at all, certainty not by me, more in despair of the beurocratic red tape and regulatory nightmare brexshit has wrought. What was it the abominable Johnson said? Something on the lines of there will be no paperwork? What bollocks he spoke. Score your points elsewhere.
Yep 100%. This is the first step & hopefully he’ll tick the boxes & develop us in a professional manner (something which has been dreadfully missing of late).
