    You realise we’re fourth bottom?
The more you and others big him up like this the more I think he should be doing more or shouldering a lot more blame for us losing

Not sure that's the correct order of events but not worth quibbling over.

Of course seeing a player in the flesh matters if you want to form a proper rounded opinion. If it didn't, why would scouts spend hours and hours and ££ travelling to watch live games when they could just do it from their TV or laptop....

How many scouting hours did we spend on Zambrano?

    How about Egan?

There's been a lot of interesting debate about some scouts relying purely on data to take personal biases out of judging a player as much as possible, on the argument that watching one off or even multiple performances can unduly influence opinion rather than assessing their ability in totality. Brighton seem to have made an art of it.

    Approaches like this: https://www.theguardian.com/technol...-be-calling-on-ai-to-scout-the-next-superstar

It's an interesting conversation. On the one hand, relying solely on data to eliminate biases might be valid, but then that should be reinforced with the eye test. I think the vast majority of clubs that scout players here in Ecuador (which happens almost on a weekly basis) send scouts to watch. Presumably after they've done all their data work.

It was said that the Peruvian player signed by Sheffield United this window was scouted purely using AI. Might be just a rumour, but will be interesting to see how it turns out.

He’s only started 10 games Chazz, we’ve gone our best run of the season since he became a main stay

Supposedly chose us due to it being his best chance of getting back into the national team. I imagine our willingness to let players move up the ladder when the opportunity arises will always help

Worded poorly not sure he was ever offered a deal but he spent a good portion of pre season there so they must’ve been fairly interested he’s definitely better than Morsy

Or he was just training there while trying to find a club.. Plenty of players do it.

You've made a lot of assumptions about him turning down a PL club for us without much fact. <laugh>

Surely if he was just training there while finding a club he’d have stayed at Brighton to do that? Ipswich must’ve been interested for him to be with them for a bit until they decided they didn’t want him or whatever.

Sure, and that could have happened and is the most likely, I'm just pointing out NT suggesting he turned them down is one - unlikely - version of events.

I don't have a strong stake in this either way but, I don't think training with a particular club before being turned down means much at all. Remember George Cox? He's playing in League 2 now.

Doesn't that show it does mean something? If he's in league two not another championship club.

Well i'd rather we didn't sell our best players but that's just me.

Acun's 'won't stand in the way' is a nice thought but I'm sure it's nothing more than a phrase he uses to appeal to talent.

Apart from KLP and Greaves we've not really had the chance to see what we'd do but if we're serious about promotion and then staying up you can't just let everyone walk out the door if there's a better team after them!

I think if the fee is good then it generally makes sense not to stand in their way. You make a big profit, you reinvest it and gradually bring up the level of your squad over time. That's how Brentford got where they are. They sold star players year after year on their way up through the Championship.

I meant it doesn't necessarily show that they're at the level of the club they trained with. So agreeing with you really.
