Where there hope, there is life…as Anne Frank wrote! We must maintain hope but it’s impossible. The only hope I have is that the youngsters get through this and come out stronger and better.

Might sound mad but I don't want the season to end just yet. At this stage under both Jose and Conte I just wanted to declare and head to the beach, but currently as bad as things are, I am really enjoying watching the development of players like Gray, Mikey and Bergvall, the emergence of Spence and I am excited to see Tel in action. Could see more of Scarlett now too with Mr Pigeon injured again.

The youngsters have been the saving grace this year.

The experienced players could all leave the club tomorrow and no one would notice or care.

For as long as you're in the competition, you have a chance - irrespective of how slim you think that chance is.

Secondly, you can easily flip what you said about not beating Ipswich, Palace or Everton and say that you beat Man City, Man United and Aston Villa.

The facts are, you're not playing any teams of elite calibre in the Europa League. Who is the best team in that competition?

Athletic Bilbao? Will be tough and they're 4th in La Liga, but they're nowhere near the likes of Liverpool.
Lazio? Again, potentially a tough draw, but they're 5th in Serie A, and have lost 7 games. They're beatable. Not as good as the top teams in the Prem.
Frankfurt? They've had a bit of a stop-start season and have recently lost their best player.
Lyon? 7th in France, have also had a stop-start season and haven't set the world alight.
Man Utd? 14th in the league and you've already beaten them twice this season.

Other teams that may be tricky are Olympiacos, Real Sociedad and Galatasaray (all of whom still need to go through the next stage of qualifiers), but again, over two legs, you can get at those sides.

To be clear - I am NOT saying you're favourites - nor am I saying you will win the competition. But do you have a decent chance to progress far? Yes. You have a better chance than some of you seem to be suggesting.

Our cunning plan is to win the Europa and become the first team in history to play in the Champions League without being in the Premier league.

I worry that all these frequent defeats will mentally scar them.

I'd actually be up for it.

    It would be absolutely hilarious.

Knowing us we'd lose to Oxford at home then go and beat Real Madrid away midweek.

And that ended well as I recall....<laugh>
Although the prospect of hiding away in a (Spurs) attic for a few years until it is all over seems a decent option right now!!

There'll be a rule...tucked away somewhere. We'd be excluded, or have to donate our TV money to retired UEFA delegates.

It's Spurs. It's who we are.

It's the daring to do that counts.

That's us. Daring to do...the lowest salary to income ratios in European football.

    You'll never sing that!

For me, Tilly, it’s a completely different kettle of fish.
The premier league has become more competitive amongst the entire group of 20. There are many teams dropping points and beating one another. - you only have to look at the some of the crazy results we’ve seen. Forest beating Brighton 7-0, then Bournemouth beating forest 5-0 to name two.
There’s some decent teams in the Europa, but none of them are the standard of Liverpool or Arsenal. And I’m not sure any of them are as good as Chelsea or Newcastle either.
Whilst we may sit well in the bottom half of the table and have had some poor results, we have the ability to play well, and pull off decent performances and results. - Villa and City to name two. It’s not like we’re complete dog ****.

I just personally don’t think European teams will have studied us as much as English sides do. On a weekly basis there’s analysis on Match of the Day, constant articles and opinions, not to mention any of the internal due diligence that premier league rivals will spend hours looking into before playing us. Then there’s the different styles of football between the different leagues.

Whilst we may go into Europa matches (especially a final if we reach it) with the trophy monkey on our back, we don’t have years of poor results against these teams like we do with Chelsea and Liverpool, for example. Psychologically, we’re ****ed in those matches before we’ve even kicked off, and every time we play them you can see that we’re timid, toothless, and invisible. - We won’t have that in the Europa.

It’s not crazy to think, that, if, we turn up, we’re not capable of going all the way, and seeing a very different Spurs team during the process.
But we’ll certainly need injured players to come back. I even think Ange’s kamikaze approach is more likely to be forgiven, too.

The problem with this is that any given team can score against us... our form against the lower teams in the prem and that stupid Dr Tottenham will see you now drivel actually has a grain of truth in it... our gung ho style of football gives everyone a chance against us.

And inevitably, no matter who we're up against, we will always find a way to crap the bed!

FFS, we've lost at home to Leicester and Ipswich. Any half decent European outfit has a pretty good shot at eliminating us. I wouldn't put a penny piece of my own money of us reaching the semi-finals, let alone winning the thing.

If any of the teams can defend and don't give the ball away for fun, we're ****ed.

Ally Gold highlighted something I didn't notice at the time.

Apparently Bergvall had to drag Bentancur over to applaud the travelling fans.

The Uruguayan wasn't our worst player last night by any stretch, but this sums up the problem for me. We are cursed with a raft of senior players who just do not care. They are happy to coast through entire games, perhaps even their entire careers, achieving nothing at the end of it aside from more than enough money to retire on.

There is no leadership anywhere. Sonny has to be the worst captain I have ever seen at Spurs. The armband is too heavy for him.

We are at a point where every player over the age of 26 with the exception of Solanke and Vicario could leave the club tomorrow and it wouldn't make one iota of difference to our performances. In fact they'd probably improve instantly.

this is very true. But I still feel that if we crap the bed against some of the Europa teams, we’ve got much more of a chance of fixing the problem.
We only lost 1 game in the Europa league league, which was away at one of the better teams, and only had 10 men for the final 30 mins.
Whilst we were **** defensively, so were they, but they were definitely beatable!
